Who am I?

Uh, great question. 

I was lucky to grow up in a poor family with very little. 

And at the same time, in one of the most beautiful villages on Earth, Moena (Italy), also called “The Fairy of the Dolomites.”

Since I was a child, I’ve always had three big passions: sports, health, and entrepreneurship. 

I don’t know why, but I always believed my future would be in one or more of these three areas.

After playing football, I discovered cross-country skiing when I was nine.


First results? Bad, really bad. 

But as sports teach us, self-discipline is the secret sauce of success.

In short, at 18, I’m constantly in the top five places in Italy in my category. Great, but to make the sport a meaningful career you must be in the top three, not five.

So, at 18, I realized my future wouldn’t embrace my first passion, sports.


Now what?

Well, here's what happened in the following years.



▶︎ 2013: Started out as a Personal Trainer at Body Energy Wellness Club in Verona, Italy. Worked with over 200 clients and did more than 10,000 personal training sessions.

▶︎ 2014: Launched MP Fit Wellness, a wellness studio focused on weight loss.

▶︎ 2015: Expanded MP Fit Wellness to include nutritionists and psychologists.

▶︎ 2016: Rolled out one of Italy’s first wellness web apps, connecting with clients all over the country.

▶︎ 2017: Started offering wellness services for small and medium-sized businesses.

▶︎ 2020: Created Moonly, a wellbeing solution for corporate teams in Italy.

▶︎ 2024 - Stealth Mode...

How to stop thinking in black and white

Try this:


1.    When you catch yourself thinking in black and white:

→    Grab your phone (or your journal)

→    And write down the thought

For example:

→    “If I don’t get this promotion, I’m a failure at work.”

Got it?

Remember, black-and-white thinking sounds like this:

→    It’s either a big win or a total flop, with nothing in between



2.    Now, take a moment to challenge that extreme thought.

Ask yourself:

→    Is this really true?

→    Are there other ways to look at this situation?

Just start seeing things differently.



3.    Now, think of examples that prove things aren’t as extreme as they seem.

Or even reflect on experiences. Not just examples.

You know, like times when you faced setbacks but learned from them.

Or when you realized your value at work wasn’t tied to just one promotion.

Write these down as proof that the world isn’t just black and white.



4.    Now, rewrite your original thought using this new perspective.

For example, instead of:

→    “If I don’t get this promotion, I’m a failure at work”

write something like:

“Not getting this promotion doesn’t mean I’m a complete failure.

There’s no direct link between getting a promotion and my overall success.

I still have a lot to offer at work.

And there are many other ways I can succeed.”



That’s it.

That’s how we move from black-and-white thinking to seeing more shades of gray :)

How to stop overreacting at work

I used to be a bit impulsive as a child

Or maybe just hyperactive.

Who knows… Anyway.

One thing you can do is create your own Wheel of Emotional Regulation.

Basically, you just need to prepare your reaction to different emotions ahead of time.

Here’s the structure:

→    When X happens, I do Y

Let’s break it down together!



1.    So, the first thing you need to do is become aware of your emotions and feelings.

Which ones?

Well, the ones you wanna handle better.

For example:

→    Anger (it often leads to impulsive reactions)

→    Insecurity

→    Rejection

→    Discouragement

→    Feeling overwhelmed

Got it?

These are the emotions and feelings we wanna improve our response to.



2.    Alright! Now what?

Now we just need to prepare our future responses.

Remember the structure?

→    “When X happens, I do Y”

You can also use the future tense, like “I’ll do Y”. But I prefer sticking with the present.

Let’s see an example.



→    When I’m feeling ANGRY…

I pause to catch my breath and clear my head before saying something I might regret.


→    When I’m feeling ANXIOUS…

I slow things down with deep breaths and try to stay grounded in the moment.


→    When I’m feeling INSECURE…

I remind myself that I’m more than my flaws. And I’m pretty awesome just as I am :)


→    When I’m feeling REJECTED…

It stings, but I remind myself that rejection can lead to better opportunities.


→    When I’m feeling DISCOURAGED…

I give myself a pep talk, focusing on why I started in the first place.


→    When I’m feeling OVERWHELMED…

I make a list and tackle one thing at a time. No need to do it all at once.



That’s it.

This is our example of the Wheel of Emotional Regulation.

As you saw, we just need to:

→    Be aware of the emotions we wanna handle better

→    Prepare our responses in advance, so when they show up, we know how to deal with them.

That’s it.

How to become more self-aware in 2026

One thing we can do is reflect and answer five special questions.

This helps us become more self-aware.

And self-awareness really matters in today’s world, doesn’t it? :)

Let’s jump into the Star of Self-Awareness!



1.    “What are my core values and beliefs?”

Why does this question matter?

Because knowing what truly matters to us helps us make better decisions.

It also helps us live in a way that feels true to who we are.

Think of it as a compass guiding us through life.

You know what I mean?
   


2.    “What are my strengths and weaknesses?”

We can’t be self-aware without knowing:

→    What we’re good at

→    And what we’re not so good at

Right?

Knowing what you're good at lets you do more of it.

Knowing what you're not good at helps you avoid wasting too much energy trying to fix them.

Doubling down on weaknesses? Not the best move, right?



3.    “What are my passions and interests?”

Passions are the things that make you excited and happy, right?

The same goes for interests.

They’re like personal fuel. Bringing joy and fulfillment.

You can’t truly understand yourself without knowing what fuels you.

Are you with me?



4.    “What are my goals and aspirations?”

Your goals and dreams are like stars in the sky. Something to aim for.

They keep you motivated and focused on what you wanna achieve in life.

That’s why being aware of them matters.



5.    “How do I handle adversity and failure?”

This is an important question.

Knowing how we deal with tough times helps us become more self-aware.

If we see setbacks as dramatic failures, we can shift that perspective.

This question helps us understand how we think about failure.

And over time, change it.



That’s it.

Here’s what you could try:

→    Schedule some “me time” on your calendar

→    Grab a pen and paper

→    And answer those five special questions

If you do, here’s what might happen:

→    You’ll become more self-aware

→    You’ll understand yourself better

→    You’ll know why you do what you do

→    And you’ll let your uniqueness shine

After all, our uniqueness is our ultimate asset, right? :)

How to let people know they’re wrong (with kindness)

Here’s a tool that can help:

→    Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

It’s based on 4 steps:

1.    Observation

2.    Feelings

3.    Need

4.    Request

Let’s break it down and see how to use it.



1.    Observation

Start by describing what actually happened.

No judgments. No blame.

Just the facts.

Ask yourself:

→    How would I explain this to a friend who wasn’t there?

Exactly like that.

For example, at work, you might say:

→    "I saw that the project report was missing some data"

See? 

Just stick to what happened. Nothing more.



2.    Feelings

Now, share how you feel about the situation.

Be honest, but avoid blaming the other person.

We’re not here to point fingers, right?

Ask yourself:

→    How is this situation affecting me?

For example, you might say:

→    "I get concerned when important data is missing because it holds up the next steps"

See the difference? 

Make sure to use that magic “because…”

Why?

Because it helps explain why you’re feeling the way you do.



3.    Need

Now, explain what you need to feel better about the situation.

Why bother doing this?

Because it helps the other person understand why it matters to you.

Just because it’s obvious to you doesn’t mean it’s obvious to them.

Are you with me?

So, here’s what you might say:

→    "I need to make sure everything’s included so the team can keep things moving"

See how that works? 

Make sure to use that special “so...”

It’s all about helping the other person see why you need it.



4.    Request

Finally, ask for a solution.

Make sure your request is clear, specific, and respectful.

Why?

Because you want the other person to feel like they can say yes or no.

Without any pressure.

Nobody likes feeling pressured, right?

Here’s what you might say:

→    “Can you please double-check the data before submitting the report next time?”



Got it?

Now, take a moment to practice.

Grab a pen and paper, and write down your answers for each step:

1.    Observation: What happened?

2.    Feelings: How did it make me feel?

3.    Need: What do I need in this situation?

4.    Request: What do I want to ask for next time?

How to stop worrying at work in 2026

Try this:

→    The Worry Tree

Let’s see how you can try it out!



1.    When you feel worry creeping in, start with this:

→    Stop what you’re doing

→    Take a deep breath

→    And notice the worry

You just need to notice it.

No need to fix it. Just be aware it’s there.



2.    Now grab your journal.

Ask yourself:

→    What am I worried about?

For example:

→    “I’m worried about my upcoming job interview”



3.    Now it’s time to dive deeper.

Ask yourself:

→    Is this worry about a current problem or a hypothetical situation?

→    Can I do anything about it?

If your answer is:

→    “It’s a hypothetical situation”

or

→    “I can’t do anything about this”

well, just accept your answer and let the worry go.

Shift your focus to something else. And stop worrying.

Why?

Because it’s either hypothetical, or you can’t do anything about it, right?

“Uh, yeah, Matty!”

Great! But if your answer is:

→    “It’s a current problem”

or

→    “I can do something about this”

well, then we need to take the next step.



4.    Alright! Now we gotta make a plan.

The only thing you need to do is decide:

→    WHAT you gotta do

→    WHEN you gotta do it

→    HOW you gotta do it

For example:

→    WHAT: I gotta study the company for my upcoming interview

→    WHEN: I’ll study tomorrow from 6 am to 11 am

→    HOW: I’ll study by reading the latest blogs, LinkedIn articles, and news

This way, you’ll have a clear plan. And we all want a plan, right? :)



5.    Now, let’s focus on that special “WHEN.”

Let’s say you don’t need to study the company tomorrow.

You need to do it right now.

What you gotta do is this:

→    Just do it! Now!

This way, you’ll let the worry go.

And you’ll be able to think about something else.

Naturally, that’s not our case, right?

We’ve already said you’ll study the company tomorrow.

So, if you realize you need to do that activity later (like tomorrow), here’s what to do:

→    Schedule it! Now!

This way, you won’t keep thinking about it.

And you’ll be able to let the worry go and focus on something else.



That’s it.

No worries, it’s easier done than said :)

How to stop being so reactive at work in 2026

Let’s try this:

→    The 4 R’s of Emotional Regulation

It can help you take charge of your reactions. Even in stressful moments.

Here’s how you can give it a go.



1.    R — Recognize

When you feel reactive, the first step is to check in with yourself.

Are you feeling tense?

Frustrated?

Maybe a little anxious?

Often, we don’t even realize we’re upset until we’ve already reacted.

So, pause for a moment and ask yourself:

→    What’s going on in my head and body right now?



2.    R — Relax

Our bodies need to calm down in those moments, right?

So, once you’ve recognized how you’re feeling, it’s time to relax.

The trick here is to get your body out of that fight-or-flight mode.

“Uh, okay Matty, but how do I actually do that?”

Well, try this:

→    Breathe in for 4 seconds through your nose

→    Hold your breath for 4 seconds

→    Breathe out for 4 seconds through your mouth

Just repeat it a few times.

It’s gonna help you bring your nervous system back to a calmer state.

Basically you’ll feel more relaxed :)



3.    R — Reframe

Alright, we’re a little more relaxed now.

So, what’s next?

Now it’s time to shift how you’re thinking.

Why?

Because our reactions are often driven by our thoughts.

And reframing can make a big difference.

So, for example, instead of thinking:

→    This is too much, I can’t handle it

Try asking yourself:

→    What can I learn from this?

or

→    What’s another way to look at this?

Reframing helps you move from a reactive mindset to a more balanced one.



4.    R — Respond

Alright, your body is calmer now. And your mind is clearer.

So, it’s time to respond.

What do I mean?

I mean, you're in a good place to respond thoughtfully.

For example, you could try:

→    Taking a few deep breaths before replying to a tough email

or

→    Walking away from a heated conversation to give yourself a moment to think

The key is to make sure you’re acting with intention. Not just reacting on impulse.

And to do that, you need to embrace the first 3 R’s:

→    Recognize

→    Relax

→    Reframe

Only then can you truly Respond.



That’s it.

This is how you can use the 4 R’s of Emotional Regulation.

The good news?

You can use them in many situations. Not just when you’re feeling reactive.

They come to the rescue whenever we need to regulate our emotions :)

If people don't respect your boundaries in 2026...

Try these 4 steps:


1.    First, we need to be crystal clear about what our boundary is.

Ask yourself:

→    What exactly do I need or not need in this situation?

Make it as specific as possible, so there’s no confusion. 

At the same time, try to keep it concise.

For example:

→    “I need to leave work on time every day to have time for myself”

And of course, let people know what you mean by “on time” :)



2.    Now, ask yourself:

→    What will happen if my boundary is crossed?

The consequence doesn’t have to be harsh.

It just needs to protect your needs.

It also needs to show that you’re serious about your boundary.

And of course, you need to let people know what those consequences are.

For example, you can say:

→    “If I keep being asked to stay late, I won’t be able to take on additional tasks in the future”



3.    Clarity is a superpower when talking about boundaries, right?

So, when you talk to the person about your boundary, keep it clear.

Sometimes, people disrespect us because they don’t know what respect means to us.

And that’s on us.

Communication starts with the sender, not the recipient, right?

Here’s what you might say:

→    “I’ve noticed I’ve been asked to stay late often, and I really need time for myself after work. If this continues, I won’t be able to take on extra tasks.”

And remember, don’t feel guilty.

There’s nothing to feel guilty about.

Boundaries are a sign of self-respect, right?



4.    Now, what if the person crosses your boundary again?

Well, stick to the consequences you set.

It’s important to stay firm and consistent.

You’re not disrespecting them. You’re respecting yourself.

And you can’t truly respect others without respecting yourself first.

The more you stick to it, the more they’ll respect your boundaries in the future.

So, say something like:

→    “I’ve already said that I need time after work. As I mentioned before, I won’t be able to take on more tasks unless this changes”



That’s it.

See your boundaries as a gift you give to yourself.

When you do, you’ll be able to give a better gift to the other person.

Love starts with self-love. Let’s not forget that!

How to handle stress at work in 2026

Ever tried writing out a conversation with yourself?

Personally, I prefer having one out loud.

But many people like writing instead.

Or maybe they just can’t talk out loud at work :)

Let’s see how you can try it!



1.    So, when you’re feeling stressed at work, open a Google Doc.

A journal works too. Or even better :)



2.    Now, start writing a conversation between two characters:

→    One character is you, dealing with stress.

→    The other is a made-up mentor… like Jasmine

You know, Jasmine is my favorite name...

Anyway, here’s an example.

I’ll try to put myself in your shoes, Omar.



🧕🏽   Hey Omar, how’s it going?

🧔🏻   Hey Jasmine! Honestly, it’s been a bit hectic. Work is piling up. I’m just trying to keep it together.

🧕🏽   Oh, I hear you. What’s been the toughest part?

🧔🏻   The toughest part? Hmm, mah, the usual. Deadlines, a ton of emails, and honestly, I’m barely keeping up. I feel like I’m always rushing.

🧕🏽   Yeah, Omar, that’s a lot. What’s your top priority with everything going on?

🧔🏻   Mah, I’m really trying to focus on getting in better shape and sticking to my workouts. It’s been hard to find the time, though.

🧕🏽   Totally get it. Making time for workouts with all that going on can be tricky. Have you thought about how much time you wanna carve out for them?

🧔🏻   Hmm, not really. Maybe I should figure that out, huh?

🧕🏽   Yeah, a little planning might make things clearer, you know. You don’t have to block out hours. Just a quick routine could work wonders.

How to stop freaking out over every little thing

Let’s try this exercise.

You can do it for the next 8 weeks.

It’ll help you figure out what triggers your emotions.

Just 5 simple steps.



1.    At the end of each week (Saturday works great), do this:

→    Take a moment to reflect on any moments that triggered strong emotions

It could be something like:

→    A stressful deadline

→    A disagreement with your partner

→    A frustrating chat with a colleague

→    ...



2.    Now grab your journal and jot down:

→    WHAT happened

→    HOW it made you feel

For example:

→    Missed deadline (what)

→    Felt overwhelmed and anxious (how)

Or

→    Disagreement with a colleague (what)

→    Felt angry and misunderstood (how)



3.    Alright! Now:

→    Review your journal

→    And look for patterns or recurring themes

How?

Ask yourself:

→    Do certain situations always bring out the same emotions?

→    Do specific interactions tend to make you feel the same way?

→    Are there patterns in how you react to these triggers?

For example, you might notice:

→    When you feel criticized or judged, you often feel anxious and start doubting yourself



4.    Okay, you know your patterns now.

Now what?

Here’s what: prepare yourself in advance.

“Uh, what do you mean, Matty?”

I mean, brainstorm coping strategies you can use when those feelings pop up.

For example:

→    Exercise

→    Mindfulness

→    Going for a walk

→    Talking to your best friend

→    Laughter yoga (ever tried it?)

As we know, the key isn’t avoiding those feelings.

The key is preparing ourselves in advance so we don’t get caught off guard.



5.    For the next 7 days, just stay disciplined.

Every time that emotion comes up, use the coping strategy you picked.



That’s it.

How to handle anxiety at work

Ever tried the R.A.I.N. technique?

It’s a simple way to manage anxiety.

Let’s break it down.



1.    R — Recognize

When anxiety shows up, first, notice what’s going on.

Ask yourself:

→    Is my heart racing?

→    Is my mind speeding ahead?

→    How does my body feel right now?

Just take a moment to recognize what’s happening inside you.

Remember:

→    It’s okay to feel anxious. You don’t have to hide it



2.    A — Accept

Now, instead of pushing anxiety away, try this:

→    Simply accept that it’s there

This is called radical acceptance.

It doesn’t mean you have to like it.

Just let it be part of the moment.

Anxiety is a normal feeling. We don’t have to fight it :)



3.    I — Investigate

Now, gently ask yourself:

→    What’s causing this anxiety?

Is it a specific task at work?

Maybe a conversation with a colleague that’s stressing you out?

Or are there thoughts or worries fueling the anxiety?

Just get curious about it, like an investigator.

You don’t have to fix anything yet. Just notice what’s going on.



4.    N — Nurture

Finally, be kind to yourself.

We often forget to do that, don’t we?

So, try this:

→    Take three deep breaths

→    Remind yourself it’s okay to feel anxious sometimes

→    Comfort yourself like you would a friend

You might say something calming, like:

→    “This will pass. I can handle this”



That’s it.

That’s how you can use the R.A.I.N. technique to handle anxiety.

How do I avoid burnout in 2026?

Here are 6 Magical Potions I secretly take every day.

Maybe you’d like to give them a try!

(But shh… don’t tell anyone!)



1.    The Nature Potion

Did you know I grew up in the Dolomites?

“What are the Dolomites, Matty?”

Oh, come on!

They’re only the most beautiful mountains on earth. In Italy!

Anyway, the first potion for avoiding burnout is spending time in nature.

That’s why:

→    I spend about 40 minutes a day in nature



2.    The Self-Care Potion

You can’t take care of others if you’re not taking care of yourself, right?

And you know me. I love people.

But let’s be real: 

→    You can’t love others properly if you don’t take self-love seriously

That’s why:

→    I eat well every day (5 small meals)

→    I work out every day (the gym is basically my second home)



3.    The Restoration Potion

Honestly, I don’t like sleeping.

Why?

Because I love living!

But here’s the thing: 

→    Sleep matters. And rest does too

Athletes always say you can’t win without quality sleep and recovery.

That’s why:

→    I sleep 8 hours a night

→    I spend 10 hours a day screen-free

→    Every 50 minutes of work, I take an 8-10 minute break



4.    The Delegation Potion

I can’t tell you how much I believe in the power of simplicity.

And honestly, I’m the kind of guy who values time over money.

“Uh, so…?”

So, here’s the deal:

→    If I can pay someone to do something I don’t enjoy, I don’t think twice

That’s why:

→    Based on my resources, I delegate tasks I don’t wanna do

But don’t get me wrong. I still believe in the spirit of sacrifice.

5.    The Boundaries Potion

Have you set your boundaries yet?

It’s so important to set them. And actually stick to them. Right?

That’s why:

→    I don’t work at all hours

→    I don’t say “yes” too often

→    I don’t throw my health away

→    I keep my phone notifications off



6.    The Connection Potion

The deeper our relationships, the more positive emotions we feel.

And the more positive emotions we feel, the less chance we have of burning out.

Don’t you think?

Exactly! That’s why:

→    I block time for family and friends in my calendar

Like it’s the most important meeting of the year.



That’s it.

Those are my 6 Magic Potions to keep burnout at bay.

But shh… don’t tell anyone!

How to talk about your needs at work in 2026

Here’s something we can try:

→    The DEARMAN method

Let’s imagine you wanna tell your boss you need a day off.

Here’s how to do it.



1.    D — Describe the situation

Start with the facts.

Ask yourself:

→    What’s actually going on?

For example you could say:

“I’ve been working on several big projects lately, and I haven’t taken any personal time in a while.”



2.    E — Express your feelings

Now that you’ve described the situation, share how it affects you.

Try using “I feel” statements.

For example you could say:

“I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed, and I think a day off would help me recharge and come back more focused.”



3.    A — Assert what you need

Now, be direct about what you want.

You could say something like:

“I’d like to take Friday off to have some time to rest and take care of myself.”



4.    R — Reinforce the positives

Now, explain why this helps both of you: a win-win!

For example, you could say:

“You know, Chloe, taking a day to recharge would allow me to come back refreshed and ready to tackle the upcoming deadlines.”



5.    M — Be Mindful

Now for the interesting part.

If your boss tries to argue or change the topic, gently bring it back.

Stay calm and stick to your points.

For example, if your boss says:

→    “You know, Hudson, we’re really busy this week”

you could respond:

→    “I get that, Chloe, and I’m happy to prioritize anything urgent before I go.”

Got it?

That “urgent thing” is gonna be over one way or another.



6.    A — Appear confident

Confidence matters, right?

Even if you’re nervous (which is totally normal), try this:

→    Speak like there’s nothing you believe in more than what you’re saying

Align your words with your posture: stand or sit up straight.

And try to maintain eye contact.

And try to avoid phrases like:

→    “If that’s okay…”

or

→    “I don’t know if this is possible…”

They don’t exactly show confidence, do they?



7.    N — Negotiate

Yep! You gotta be ready to negotiate.

If they push back, try to find some middle ground.

For example you could say:

“If Friday isn’t ideal, I’d be happy to take Monday off instead, or adjust my schedule to make sure everything gets covered.”



That’s it.

I think we definitely deserve a day off now. Don’t we? :)

How to stop making reactive decisions in 2026

I’m not a decision-making guy.

I’m not great at making decisions.

Honestly, I’ve made 99% of my decisions based on gut feelings.

I don’t follow any particular framework, but…

Here’s a tool to manage emotional reactions:

→    The RAPID Method

It’ll help you make more mindful decisions when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Or impulsive and reactive.

Let’s see how to give it a try!



1.    R — Relax

When we’re stressed, our bodies can feel tense, right?

So, start by taking a deep breath.

If you’re comfortable, close your eyes.

Breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 seconds.

Hold it for 4 seconds.

Now breathe out slowly through your mouth for 4 seconds.

Do this a few times.

The goal is to calm your mind and body so you can think more clearly.



2.    A — Accept

Instead of fighting how you feel, try accepting it.

Radical acceptance can feel like magic, right?

You’re stressed. And that’s okay.

Acknowledge what you’re feeling without judging yourself.

Just notice it.

Sometimes, we just need to accept that we’re feeling overwhelmed to take the pressure off.

It helps us feel more in control :)



3.    P — Pause

Now, stop for a moment. Just for a moment.

Give yourself a little space to breathe and think.

Even if it’s just for a few seconds.

We don’t wanna react here. We just wanna pause.

This small moment can make a big difference in how you’re gonna respond.



4.    I — Investigate

Now it’s time to investigate.

Ask yourself:

→    What exactly am I feeling right now?

→    What’s triggering this reaction?

→    Is this decision really going to help me in the long run?

Take a moment to understand what’s going on in your head.

It’ll help you make a better choice.



5.    D — Decide

Alright, we’ve taken a deep breath.

We’ve accepted our feelings.

We’ve paused for a moment.

We’ve thought about what’s going on.

Now?

Now we get to choose how we wanna respond.

Ask yourself:

→ What would be the most helpful response right now?

→ What decision would align with my values or long-term goals?

Make your decision from a calm and thoughtful place.

We don’t wanna make decisions based on stress, right? :)

How to communicate your boundaries at work

Let’s check out the 3C method.

It helps you communicate your boundaries in a way that’s:

→    Clear

→    Concise

→    And Calm

Let’s dive in.



1.    C — Clear

To start, we need to identify our boundaries.

So, think about a situation where you need to set a boundary.

It could be at work, with a friend, or even with your family.

Ask yourself:

→    What do I need to say “no” to?

→    What do I need to ask for or set limits on to protect my time and energy?

For example:

→    I need more time to finish my tasks, so I can’t take on any more work this week

In this case, your need is time.

Got it?

Just be clear about what you want.



2.    C — Concise

Being concise is a superpower. Especially with boundaries.

Here’s what to do:

→    Grab a pen and paper

→    And write down your boundary in a way that’s simple and to the point

You don’t need a long explanation or justification.

Ask yourself:

→    What’s the simplest way to express my boundary?

For example, you could write:

→    I can’t take on any more work this week. I need to focus on what I already have

Okay? Simple and to the point :)



3.    C — Calm

What we just wrote doesn't mean much if we can't say it calmly, right?

So, when you’re ready to share your boundary, do this:

→    Keep your tone calm and composed

How?

Well, preparation is key, right? 

So, try practicing your boundaries with yourself.

Try this:

→    Stand in front of a mirror (or use a camera)

→    Take a deep breath

→    Practice saying your boundary out loud

Try not to sound defensive or apologetic.

Even because, you know better than I do:

→    Setting boundaries is a sign of self-respect and self-love

No need to feel guilty. Just be proud of yourself. :)

How do I stay disciplined in 2026?

Here’s one thing I learned from sports:

→    Your discipline is completely based on how you talk to yourself

Yeah, it’s a mindset game.

The words we use when we talk to ourselves matter.

Let me give you 3 examples. 3 mindset shifts (and a story!)



1.    Many people ask themselves:

→    “Why can’t it…?”

For example:

→    Why can’t I pull this off?

A better version of that question is:

→    How can I pull this off?

This mindset shift is probably one of my favorites.

Once we start using “How can I…”, everything feels more achievable.

Let me give you an example.



About 18 months ago, I started getting a lot of DMs here on LinkedIn.

I was spending about 20 minutes a day replying to them, trying to bring as much value as possible.

But at some point, I thought:

→    “Hey Matty, most of these DMs could easily become a LinkedIn post!”

So I asked myself:

→    “How can I optimize my time and bring value not just to one person but to many people?”

That question led to AskMatty Series.

Anyway, here’s the first way to build discipline:

→    Shift from “Why can’t I…” to “How can I…?”



2.    Another phrase many people use is:

→    “I have to…”

Now, I use this phrase too, but in my mind, it isn’t “negative.”

For many people, though, “I have to” feels like “obligation.”

And it’s pretty hard to stay disciplined if you feel obligated.

“Uh, so Matty…?”

Here’s the switch:

→    Move from “I have to…” to “I get to….”

For example, instead of saying:

→    “I have to finish this task”

you can say:

→    “I get to finish this task”

Basically, you’re moving from “obligation” to “desire.”

It’s a mindset shift that gives you:

→    Appreciation

→    Empowerment

→    And a positive attitude :)



3.    Ever said, “I won’t be able to…”?

No worries, you’re not alone.

Try turning it into:

→    “I’ll try to…”

For example, instead of saying:

→    “I won’t be able to finish the project by Friday”

say:

→    “I’ll try to finish the project by Friday”

That simple “try” puts you in a position to actually try.

And many times, that’s exactly what we need. Just to try.



That’s it.

As you know, our mindset matters more than we think.

How to stop being overwhelmed at work

I’m a huge believer in journaling, but…

I’m also a huge believer in talking to ourselves out loud.

Yep! You got it right!

I do it every single day.

Here’s a simple tool that will help you manage stress at work.

(with 3 powerful questions to ask yourself)



1.    When you feel stressed:

→    Get up (if you can)

→    Start walking. Slowly

Like I do every day.

Here’s the first question to ask yourself while walking:

→    “What’s really bothering me right now?”

Try to check in with yourself.

What’s causing that pressure?

What’s causing that stress?

Is it a project deadline?

A meeting coming up?

A conflict with a coworker?

Or maybe you just feel like you’ve got too much on your plate?

Take a minute to figure out what’s really at the core of your stress.

Just saying it out loud can help you feel clearer.



2.    Alright, you’re still walking. Nice and slow.

Here’s the second question:

→    What can I actually control in this situation?

It makes no sense to stress over things we can’t control, right?

But we still do it sometimes.

Now that you know what’s causing the stress, do this:

→    Think about what’s actually within your control

Are there tasks you can prioritize?

Can you ask for help with certain things?

Can you talk to your boss or team about adjusting deadlines?

Just focus on what you CAN change.

There’s no need to stress over what’s out of your hands.



3.    Alright! Keep walking.

Here’s the third question:

→    What’s one small thing I can do right now to ease this feeling?

Knowing what’s within your control isn’t enough, right?

We’ve gotta take action if we wanna feel better.

So, take a step back and think about the next small action you can take.

It doesn’t have to be a big move. Just one thing.

Maybe it’s taking a 5-minute break to reset.

Or reorganizing your tasks to get more clarity.

Sometimes, clarity alone can reduce stress.

That’s why I’m a big believer in simplicity and minimalism.

Even a small action can move you forward. No matter how small.



That’s it.

And if you’re not comfortable talking to yourself out loud?

Well, just write your thoughts down.

We just need to get those thoughts out of our minds :)

How to keep your energy up at work

Ever thought about mapping your energy levels?

No?

Well, let’s give Energy Mapping a try.

It’s gonna help you:

→    Understand why you feel drained after work

→    Make simple changes to keep your energy up

Let’s get started!



1.    So, for a week, try this:

→    Jot down how your energy feels at different times during the workday

Just rate it from 1 to 5:

→    1 = "totally drained"

→    5 = "full of energy"

Just make sure to note down:

→    The time

→    Your energy level

→    What you’re working on

For example:

→    10:40 AM

→    Energy level: 2

→    Just wrapped up a 40-minute meeting with 4 people 

Write down their names, too.

You know, maybe we’ll discover some interesting insights...



2.    Now it’s time to spot two things:

→    What drains your energy

→    What boosts your energy

So, after the week, review your notes.

Pay attention to two patterns:

→    When your energy dips + what’s happening at those times

→    When your energy is higher + what you’re doing then

For example, you might notice:

→    Your energy is low after meetings

→    Your energy is high after writing a report

But at the same time, you might realize:

→    Meetings shorter than 30 minutes don’t really drain your energy

→    Stand-up meetings only use up a little bit of your energy

Got it?

Just focus on spotting the patterns.



3.    Now, let’s create your workday energy map.

How?

Draw a simple chart with two things:

→    The hours of your workday along the bottom

→    Your energy levels up the side

Then, just plot your energy levels throughout the day.

This will show you exactly when they rise and fall.



4.    Alright! Now, take a look at your energy map.

Ask yourself:

→    What’s draining my energy?

→    Can I tweak how I handle those tasks or take breaks afterward?

→    What gives me energy?

→    Can I schedule more of those activities or do them during low-energy times?

Just try planning your workday so you can:

→    Tackle demanding tasks when your energy is high

→    Save easier tasks for when your energy dips



5.    Now, based on what you’ve learned, make small changes.

For example:

→    Practice deep breathing to recharge

→    Switch up your tasks to keep things interesting

→    Take short breaks to move around or get fresh air

→    Eat healthy snacks during the day to keep your energy steady
