Maurice was a career banker with a 30+ year history with the HSBC Group. He has been in front line lending roles to a range of customers from MNCs to SMEs in Sri Lanka, Maldives and Oman. He has also worked in Credit Control and Risk Management. Responsibilities included playing an advisory role to front line corporate lending executives on lending strategy and debt structuring and rolling out a new business model for the SME segment. Trained extensively in HSBC's centres in the UK & Hong Kong and reasonably well traveled in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America, Maurice has an international flavour. An Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK (Institute of Financial Services), Maurice studied Development Economics at the University of Colombo. Following retirement from HSBC, Maurice consults on a freelance basis on funding advice for businesses and skills development for financial institutions. He also launched a start-up, MENÉ ASIA (www.mene.asia), to promote and raise capital for sustainable development ventures. Maurice is actively involved in voluntary service and holds board positions in a social development association and a mission oriented private school.
