I’m a delivery-focused software engineering lead , driven to make engineering teams more effective with a strong emphasis on ownership, autonomy and skin-in-the-game. My background consists of 19 years of experience getting software done in a variety of industries, but mostly in financial services. I have in later years moved to more strategic but still hands-on roles. On core technical skills I’m a pragmatic polyglot and have no problem moving around in different languages , frameworks or programming paradigms. Having said that, my personal preference for a language remains Scala of which I now have almost a decade of experience with and I have a bias for immutable structures , functions , libraries over frameworks and compile-time safety. I also have a 10 year history with C#.
