During interviews, I ask intentionally awful questions:

•⁠ ⁠“If you were a stapler, how would you add value to this team?”
•⁠ ⁠“How many cows are in Texas?”
•⁠ ⁠“Where do you see yourself in five minutes?”

Do I care about the answers? 

Absolutely not. The goal isn’t insight. It’s chaos.

And when it comes time to decide, I don’t pick the person with the strongest track record or clearest thinking. 

No. I lean into the *Peter Principle*.

We promote people until they’re gloriously incompetent.

Then replace them with A.I.

Candidate froze mid-sentence? 

✅ Leadership potential.

Candidate rambled incoherently? 

✅ Future VP.

Candidate who actually knew what they were talking about? 

❌ Too dangerous. Won’t fit in.

Great companies aren’t built by the best.

They’re preserved by people who fail upwards in perfect harmony. 

Then you replace them without remorse with an intern and n8n

That’s culture. That’s consistency.

And that’s why our org chart is basically a Jenga tower that collapses into CRM.

Here’s how they got it wrong:

🍎 Waited years while competitors launched real products.
🍏 Announced it only as an internal tool.
🔥 Marketed it like they discovered fire.

All well and good, except… the rest of the world already has working AI copilots.

Lesson: Innovating like it’s 2007 only works if you’re releasing the iPhone 

Not ChatGPT’s great-great-grandchild.

"Apple is testing AI internally.”

This is pointless news.

It’s not specific enough.

Here are 5 actual things Apple should do to compete:

🤖 Ship a working AI.
📖 Make Siri not sound like a bored librarian.
🧪 Stop pretending “internal testing” counts as innovation.
🪿 Give us AI that doesn’t just Google things poorly.
📆 Do it before 2030.
🎁 Don’t go saying “we’ll release it when it’s perfect” obviously.
 
But make your AI work hard for you.

“If you modernize your 55-year-old Southern brand, you’ll attract Gen Z.”

Here’s the reality:

You don’t “refresh” Cracker Barrel. 

You risk civil war.

Here’s the step-by-step framework for keeping your customer base:

1. Don’t touch the rocking chairs.

2. Don’t touch the logo.

3. Don’t touch the hashbrown casserole.

4. Seriously, don’t touch anything.

5. Smile, and say “y’all come back now.”

That’s the whole playbook.

Cracker Barrel and marketing firm Prophet have parted ways.

Following the chain's failed identity refresh and logo controversy, The Wall Street Journal reports. 

The Tennessee-based restaurant's three-year redesign plans were halted in August after fans expressed outrage over the brand's modernized look. 

Roughly $100 million was lost in market share as a result of the customer backlash. 

A corporate reshuffling is also underway at Cracker Barrel, says CEO Julie Felss Masino, and it will revert its remodeled stores "to more traditional formats."

 Urgency drives action.

Scarcity moves deals across the line.
