On Wednesday, state-owned media reported that Pakistan's official logistics and freight transportation organization has successfully shipped the first locally produced potato consignment to Tajikistan, marking a significant milestone in opening up major export opportunities for the country in the Central Asian region.

Pakistan has set its sights on bolstering its position as a key trade and transit hub, facilitating connections between the Central Asian republics and the global market, leveraging its strategic geographic location. 

This endeavor has been supported by investments in infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, and pipelines, as part of the broader China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, aimed at fostering greater economic connectivity.

The ambition driving Pakistan's efforts stems from the potential for economic growth and enhanced regional cooperation, aimed at addressing the country's ongoing financial challenges.

According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) news agency, the National Logistics Cell (NLC) dispatched its trucks to the Tajik capital of Dushanbe to deliver the consignment, covering a distance of 1,400 kilometers.

 The journey from Okara and Rahim Yar Khan to Dushanbe was completed in just seven days, with a special ceremony held at Dushanbe Customs Terminal One to mark the arrival of the inaugural convoy under International Road Transport.
