Melissa is a Postdoctoral Researcher in public health and the Founder of Sober Social Ireland. With a background in psychology, Melissa completed her Ph.D. in 2021 as a fully funded Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at Queen's University Belfast. Her doctoral research focused on improving public health risk communication of endocrine disrupting chemicals, leading to her role as an Educational Scientist with Hive Cancer Support in Northern Ireland. Melissa went on to pursue a postdoctoral research position in public health and founded Sober Social Ireland, an initiative dedicated to improving public education on alcohol and sobriety. Her work is especially focused on reducing the stigma associated with unhealthy drinking habits among women in Ireland.
