From my earliest years as a child, I remember riding the waves of financial difficulties which impacted my family. The financial insecurity my family faced due to downturns in the economy has largely shaped who I am and drove my desire to become a finance and accounting professional. The unique perspectives I had as a child spurred me to pursue a degree in accounting and to ultimately obtain my CPA. I understand how it feels to be financially insecure and go above and beyond when an opportunity arises. I take great pride in persistence, resilience, and empathy. This is why I love finance and its functions as a tool to empower individuals/corporations to overcome financial hurdles and accelerate growth. Life has taught me to seek out opportunities, whether or not they are risky. I most recently took a risk when I left a secure job for a position as a Finance Manager of an Insurtech startup. I recently left the company as we needed to reduce costs, but I don't regret taking the risk. I learned so much in my time at the startup, including how to establish business operations in Brazil.
