Fermat's Library (www.fermatslibrary.com) is a platform for illuminating academic papers. Just as Pierre de Fermat scribbled his famous last theorem in the margins, professional scientists, academics and citizen scientists can annotate equations, figures and ideas and also write in the margins.

Orankl

As a cofounder of Orankl I helped build, scale and maintain a software solution that is used by thousands of merchants worldwide.

I was involved in all the steps from inception to design and creation of the final product. I had a role as a full stack developer working both on the back-end and front-end. The main languages I used were: ruby on rails, javascript, haml, sass.

Today I work with merchants to improve their conversions and increase their sales by helping them understand the data that Orankl collects for them. Analysing customer buying patterns across stores combined with reviews and advanced data analysis models I help merchants increase their online sales.

Founder and Chief Data Scientist

I was a researcher and PhD student in High Energy Particle Physics at LIP. LIP is the biggest experimental particle physics laboratory in Portugal. LIP's research encompass Experimental High Energy Physics and Astroparticles, radiation detection instrumentation, data acquisition and data processing, advanced computing and applications to other fields, in particular Medical Physics.

My work consisted in developing new computation models and data analysis tools that would allow further insight into particle interactions at the highest energies.

- Physics computational models:
I developed advanced physical computational models in FORTRAN and C++. The goal was to change the way particles interact at the highest energies, assuming that their cross section increases with increasing energy. I changed the mathematical equations of the hadronic models used for data simulations and compared my result with real data collected by the Pierre Auger Observatory.

- Data analysis tools:
I developed  a new model to analyse the data collected by the Pierre Auger Observatory. The goal was to infer the chemical composition of the primary particle by sampling the footprint of muons detected. I developed models to select the data, analyse the data, and propagate the errors. I then applied these results to the collected from the observatory. Results can be found in my publications.
