Don't let the nerd glasses fool you: I didn’t come to financial planning the way most do. In 2008, my parents lost most of their retirement savings by trusting the wrong financial advisor. Watching them start over made me realize how important it is to work with people of integrity. In 2012, my younger sister got diagnosed with a rare medical condition, forcing her to shut down a business that was just starting to take off. In 2019, my sister nearly died for the 2nd time and my parents poured their last dollars into experimental treatments. The financial strain led to their divorce. Thankfully, my sister survived. ↓ In 2020, at the height of COVID, I took a leap and switched my career from engineering to financial planning. I had to get off the sidelines and start helping the people I cared about. I’d been through too much to not be changed.
