Michael Heyeck founded The Grid Group, LLC in 2013 serving the electric utility industry on several boards, tapping 40+ years of industry experience. Michael Heyeck retired in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Transmission at American Electric Power, responsible for AEP’s 11-state transmission system, including Officer and Board positions for several AEP affiliates. He also held leadership positions in AEP's Corporate Planning & Budgeting. He joined AEP in 1976. Heyeck currently serves and has served on numerous industry boards. He has served as Advisor, Chairman and Vice Chairman for the US Department of Energy’s Electricity Advisory Committee for four Presidential Administrations. Heyeck serves CIGRE internationally as VP Finance (Treasurer), based in Paris as nonprofit for global power system expertise (formerly President CIGRE US National Committee). Heyeck has also served in other industry capacities, including Chairman EPRI Power Delivery & Utilization Council. Awards include the IEEE Power & Energy Society Leadership in Power Award (2013) and the National Society of Professional Engineers Industry Engineer of the Year Award (2013). Heyeck holds elected office as Westerville (Ohio) City Council Member (pop 40,000) since 1993 and has served as Chairman and Mayor. Heyeck is the longest serving Member and Chairman in the City’s history (founded 1858). He also serves and has served on several nonprofit community boards. Fernanda and he have been married since 1974 and have three adult children and four grandchildren. They are also long-time parishioners of St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. They reside in Westerville, Ohio since 1980. Heyeck earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration at University of Dayton. He also is a graduate of The Executive Program at University of Virginia’s Darden School. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio, a Member of CIGRE, and an IEEE Fellow.
