Sparked is a community comprising government, technology vendors, provider organisations, peak bodies, practitioners, and domain experts to accelerate the creation and use of national FHIR standards in health care information exchange.

The Sparked program is a partnership of HL7 Australia, the Department of Health and Aged Care, the Australian Digital Health Agency, and CSIRO.

Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the Sparked program in the creation, development, management and support of the program's products.
• Facilitate Sparked workshops to drive collaborative decision-making and consensus-building.

Role: Digital & Data Workstream Lead - Health and Disability System Review

A wide-ranging, once-in-a-generation review designed to future-proof NZ health and disability services. Our work considered the overall function of the Health and Disability system to ensure the system is better balanced towards wellness, access, equity, and sustainability.

Evaluated current state and researched future options, including international best practices and local cross-industry experiences, across a wide range of health-related data and digital topics, including digital policy and strategy, health data and interoperability standards, data privacy, sovereignty and ethics, workforce development, data and digital literacy, innovation and new digitally-enabled models of care, leadership and decision making, procurement, and equity.

Activities:
- Engaged broadly across the local NZ industry, sector, and international digital health leaders from the UK, US, Canada, and Australia.
- Provided information, analysis, and advice to the review Chair, Heather Simpson, and the Expert Panel to inform the outcomes and recommendations of the review.
