I have been sharing my life with motor neuron disease and its symptoms for three years now. It started with a progressive slowing of my voice. It took over a year for the problem to be diagnosed - It is also known as ALS - Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. In France it's called la maladie de Charcot. In the USA LouGehrig's. A disease with no known cure. Now I can no longer speak and eating becomes more and more of a problem as my body gradually loses its ability to move. (In the end, the respiratory muscles will stop functioning). I'm incredibly lucky though. I seem to have a slow form. Though walking is awkward and my arms are weak, I can ride a bike. And so I still have time to live. … I have completed a ride down the Danube from the Black Forest to the Black Sea to raise money for research. I’m now in Australia - riding too.
