I was responsible for the design of parts and compete assemblies of fully automatic robotic lines and production workstations, robot precise grippers, fixtures, fully automated end-control units for an OEM and Tier 1 automotive manufacturers like Porsche, Skoda, BMW and Opel. Mostly I was busy with final assembly and end control stations for a major automotive headlight producer, but I pride myself to be a part the design team of the fully robotized assembly line of car brakes (KNOTT). All these projects required high-intensity work and strict quality requirements that I had to deliver and maintain.

At my second internship, I was working with the senior designers at the design of welding fixtures for robotic stations, fixtures for car body welding, units, and stations for the calibration and measurement of car parts for the company’s automotive industry OEM and Tier 1 manufacturing clients. I got proficient in CATIA V5 and SolidWorks, as well as in engineering standards and design principles typical for Tier 1 automotive manufacturers. In a later stage, I took complete design responsibility for a specific jig or station and deliver in accordance with industry and ergonomic standards, with respect to contract requirements and budget.

INTERN - Mechanical Design

I got a great opportunity to be a part of an engineering/production team at car seats manufacturing company. Together with other students, we were running day-by-day operations and providing engineering and design support to develop and implement the applications to improve the ergonomics, productivity, quality and overall performance of the final assembly line. We designed and tested various tools, fixtures, and workstations for human-machine interaction. I learned a lot about safety, ergonomy, productivity goals, Six Sigma, and Lean manufacturing, Poka Yoke principles.
