Hiking has always been one of my favourite ways to reset.

In Taiwan, mountains are never far away. Just a short drive, and I find myself surrounded by fresh air, quiet trails, and views that make daily worries feel small.

For me, it’s more than exercise. 

It’s a practice.
A way to clear my head.
A reminder that slowing down can also move you forward.

There’s something about fresh air; it changes you from the inside out. 

By the time I come down the trail, I feel lighter, calmer, and more open to whatever the week brings.

It lives in the space between who you are when no one's watching and who you choose to become when everyone is.

I've seen leaders who manage through fear and anxiety.
I've seen entry-level employees who inspire entire departments.

The difference? 

One leads from ego. The other leads from soul.

Real leadership asks better questions rather than giving all the answers. It creates safety for others to shine instead of demanding the spotlight.

Your influence isn't measured by how many people report to you.

It's measured by how many people trust you with their dreams, their struggles, their authentic selves.

The most powerful leaders I know don't announce their leadership.
They simply show up.

With the 3 C approach:

→ Consistently. 
→ Courageously. 
→ Compassionately.

And people follow not because they have to, but because they want to be part of something beautiful being built.

What's one way you've seen quiet leadership change everything?

Energy is everything. 

But I didn’t always realise this.  

For a long time, I thought success meant giving all of myself to work, to people, to responsibilities.  

Until one day, I felt completely drained, like there was nothing left for me.

That’s when I started asking a different question: 

What if my energy is the most valuable thing I own?

Now, I protect it fiercely. 

- By letting go of tasks I don’t need to hold.
- By giving my body the care it deserves.
- By choosing things that fill me up

Hiking on quiet trails, exploring new places, meeting people whose stories expand my own, and learning about cultures that remind me how vast the world is.

For me, this is the point of life. 

Not to run until empty, but to live in a way that feels full.

And I’ve learned that preserving my energy isn’t selfish, it’s powerful. 

Because when I honour it, I can show up stronger, softer, and more present in everything I do.

How do you choose to honour your energy?

First time attending an Indian wedding.

I was touched. I was emotional.

Because it felt less like an event, and more like the soul of a family coming together.

In India, a marriage is not just about the couple.

It is about everyone → parents, siblings, cousins, relatives, even friends.

Every hand is helping. Every heart is involved.

Back home, weddings feel simpler. A gala dinner, buffet style. A celebration, yes, but not something where the whole family is woven into the process.

Here, I saw something different.

 → The colours.
 → The food.
 → The décor.
 → The dresses.

 But most of all, the values.

The way families pour everything into making this day perfect.

The way everyone carries a piece of responsibility.

The way marriage is seen not just as two people holding hands, but as two families holding each other.

It reminded me that culture is not just rituals.

It is the meaning we attach to them.

And India’s meaning of marriage is one of the most beautiful I’ve witnessed.

I’ll carry this memory with me because it showed me how deeply love and family can be celebrated.

I fired my best employee today. 

Just kidding. But I bet you stopped scrolling.

Here's what actually happened.
3 AM. My phone buzzes.

"Sorry to message so late but I just had the most incredible breakthrough and I'm literally shaking with excitement."

My heart melted. 

Not because she was working late. But because she felt safe enough to share her joy with me in that raw, unfiltered moment.

That's when it hit me like lightning.

We're doing remote work all wrong.

Companies are obsessed with tracking every click, every minute, every breath their people take. Installing spy software. Demanding cameras on. 

Micromanaging from a distance. 

But here's what nobody talks about: Culture isn't built on surveillance. It's built on soul.

It's my teammate feeling so emotionally safe that her first instinct when genius strikes is to share it with our team.

It's someone crying on our Monday call about their mum's diagnosis and the entire team rallying around them without a single question about deadlines or deliverables.

It's people logging off for life moments and nobody questioning their dedication because we know their hearts are fully in this work.

This is what I've learned after years of building remote teams that feel more like family.

When you lead with trust instead of fear, people don't just show up. They soar.

When you create emotional safety instead of digital control, magic happens.

When you treat humans like humans instead of productivity robots, they'll move mountains for you.

Remote work isn't about replicating office culture online.  

It's about creating something infinitely more beautiful, more warm.
So here's what every leader needs to hear:

Stop managing. Start trusting.
Stop tracking. Start caring.
Stop controlling. Start connecting.

Because you can't build real culture without trust.

And once you have that trust. Everything else becomes possible.

What would change in your remote team if trust was your only policy?

Nothing prepared me for how alive India looks.

I have been to India several times, but every time I come here, I am left in awe.

As someone from a fashion background, I’ve travelled through many countries and seen how style, taste, and aesthetics shift across cultures. 

But India is different.

Here, design is not limited to runways or galleries. It spills into everyday life.

→ A roadside tea stall painted in bright reds and yellows.
 → Auto-rickshaws covered with stickers, slogans, and mirror work.
 → Market streets overflowing with textiles in every shade imaginable.
 → Even homes furnished with carved wood, bold cushions, and handwoven rugs.

In most places, colour feels curated. In India, it feels instinctive.

People don’t add it to “stand out.” 
They add it because it is who they are.

And maybe that’s what strikes me the most.

This isn’t just a colourful country, it’s a society that dares to live visibly. 

Confident in its heritage, expressive in its details, and unafraid of being seen.

That’s why each visit leaves me inspired: India is proof that culture doesn’t fade with modernity. 

It adapts, but it stays vibrant.

What’s one everyday detail from your culture that you think the world should notice more?

The life I am living now is what 10 year me used to draw in her notebook 

That little girl with pigtails and a box of crayons knew something I forgot along the way...

She used to hide under blankets with a torch, sketching her future with worn crayons. 

She drew herself in a corner office with big windows and city lights twinkling below.

She drew herself speaking to crowds. Hands gesturing wildly. Eyes bright with purpose.

She drew herself travelling. Stamps in her passport. Stories in her heart.

And you know what breaks me? 

I'm sitting in that corner office right now. The same city lights she sketched are reflecting off my laptop screen as I type this at night because I love what I do so much I lose track of time.

Last month I spoke at three conferences. My hands still gesture wildly. My eyes still light up when I talk about what matters.

My passport? It's thick with stamps from places that little dreamer could only imagine in her wildest crayon-coloured fantasies.

But here's the thing that makes my heart ache in the most beautiful way.

She didn't just draw the destinations. She drew the feeling. 

The confidence. The joy. The sense of purpose that would wake her up excited every single morning.

And THAT'S what I'm living now.

Not just the career milestones or the social media-worthy moments... but the pure, unfiltered JOY that radiates from doing exactly what you were put on this earth to do.

That 10-year-old me? She knew something about dreaming that we forget as adults. She believed without question. She drew without limits. She imagined without fea r.

But here's what moves me most deeply...

She didn't just draw success. She drew the feeling of waking up every morning with butterflies of excitement in her stomach. She drew the warmth of knowing she was exactly where she belonged.

So here's my love letter to that little dreamer: We did it, darling. We're living our dreams now.

My hands were shaking as I fumbled with the seatbelt.

Not from turbulence.

From the weight of years of "what ifs" finally becoming "what is."

The plane tilted, and suddenly Taiwan wasn't below me anymore. It was this tiny, beautiful thing that looked like it could fit in my palm.

I pressed my face against the window like a child at a candy shop and just… lost it.

Proper ugly crying. The kind where you can't catch your breath.

The auntie next to me probably thought I was terrified of flying.

I wasn't scared. I was heartbroken and euphoric at the same time.

Heartbroken because I'd waited so damn long to do this.
Euphoric because I was finally doing it.

All those nights as little me, scribbling pictures of different countries in my notebook. 

All those nights, painting skies in my colouring books, not just blue, but purple and pink and gold, the way dreams are supposed to look. 

Like any other child dreaming of being limitless, touching clouds, living amongst the stars. 

But somewhere along the way, I'd forgotten that little girl who knew she belonged up here. 

All those years of scrolling through stories of people travelling the world while I stayed put, feeling that familiar pull in my chest every time I saw an aeroplane. 

All those conversations where I'd nod along when people talked about their adventures, smiling while my something ached. 

"Maybe next year," I'd always say.
"When I save enough money."
"When the timing's right."
"When I'm more prepared."

But sitting there, watching clouds pass by like I was swimming through them, I realised something that made me cry even harder:

This wasn't just my first flight. This was me finally living my dream.

The window reflected my tear-streaked face against the endless blue, and for the first time ever, I looked like someone I recognised.

Not the responsible daughter who always played it safe.
Not that little girl who only dreamt of this once.

Just me. Finally heading towards something that felt true.

My phone buzzed with a message from Mama: "Text me when you land safely."

I typed back through blurry eyes: "I'm already safe, Mama. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be."

What would you do if you stopped waiting for permission to want what you want?

Yesterday, I landed in India with my mother.

Today, the entire country celebrates its Independence Day.
And I could not feel more grateful.

Grateful that I get to run a business here.
Grateful for the trust customers place in us.

And above all, grateful for the incredible team that makes it all possible.

Building in India has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life.

It is a place where ambition meets heart, and where every challenge pushes you to be more resourceful, more resilient, and more human.

The Red Bull team stood there with coolers and genuine smiles. 

What started as a simple product sampling turned into something I didn't expect.

Our usually quiet designer lit up talking about her weekend rock climbing adventures with the Red Bull representative. 

An IT colleague joined in, and it turns out he climbs the same routes. Our intern started sharing college stories about late-night study sessions. 

Everyone gathered around, laughing, adding their own caffeine survival tales.

The Red Bull team weren't rushing through their pitch. 

They asked about our work, our projects, and what drives us. Real curiosity, not just corporate small talk.

Twenty minutes later, the office felt different.

Not because of the energy drinks in our hands. Because we'd remembered something important: the fascinating humans we work alongside every single day. 

The stories hiding behind every workstation. 
The shared experiences we never think to explore.

I've been reflecting on this moment all week.

We spend forty hours a week together, yet how often do we truly connect? 

How many interesting conversations slip by because we're buried in our individual bubbles?

That spontaneous interruption reminded me that workplace energy doesn't come from caffeine or productivity hacks or motivational posters.

It comes from the moments when we pause long enough to see each other as whole people.

When we discover that the quiet colleague has weekend adventures. 
When someone's stories make everyone laugh until their sides hurt.

The strongest teams aren't built through team-building exercises or company retreats. 

They emerge in these unplanned intersections of human curiosity and genuine interest in each other's lives.

Sometimes it takes strangers with coolers full of drinks to remind us that the most energising element in any workplace isn't what we consume.

It's the connections we create.

What unexpected moments have brought your team closer together?

Last month, I was on a cruise.

One of the islands we visited was Okinawa, Japan, the birthplace of karate.

Being there reminded me that karate is not just about self-defence. 

It’s about discipline, respect, balance, and resilience. Lessons that apply far beyond the dojo, into life, leadership, and business.

→ Discipline over motivation. Show up, even when it’s hard.
→ Respect builds trust. Every bow is a reminder that humility comes first.
→ Balance creates strength. Power without control is chaos.
→ Resilience shapes progress. You may not win every round, but you return stronger.

During this journey, I also had the privilege of meeting Steven Seagal.

A true icon whose commitment to martial arts has inspired generations.

Deep respect to him, and to the many karate masters who continue to keep this tradition alive.

Their wisdom proves that strength is never only physical; it’s mental, emotional, and deeply human.

Karate may have started in Okinawa, but its philosophy belongs everywhere. 
It changes not only how you fight, but how you lead.

Which of these principles resonates most with your own journey?

I always say my mom is my biggest teacher

But these past two months, travelling with her, I’ve realised just how true that is.

Spending this much time together has been a gift. 

Beyond the laughter, stories, and little routines, what stands out most is her resilience. 

The patience she carries. 
The quiet way she moves through challenges. 
The strength she never announces, but always lives.

I thought I knew this about her already.

But being side by side, day after day, I keep discovering new lessons. 

It’s almost like resilience is not something she “teaches”, it’s something she is.

And it makes me reflect on how much of who I am comes from her.

Her ability to adapt.
Her way of finding calm when things don’t go as planned.
Her belief that life is to be lived fully, even when it tests you.

They say we become mirrors of the people we spend time with.

 If that’s true, I hope I keep becoming more like her.
