- Cloud strategy, advisory, transformation and architecture functions
- Completion of high and low level designs based on Azure services
- Technologies including Azure IaaS, vnet, NSG, Compute, Storage, App Services, Azure AD, Azure AD Application Proxy, Azure Security Centre, VPN and Expressroute
- Working throughout the Pre-sales stage, developing proposals and engaging in the delivery covering the design and implementation phases of the project before handing over to support and operations teams

Cloud Technical Solution Architect

Hitachi Vantara

Customer facing delivery and advisory consultant focusing on cloud, converged and hyper-converged infrastructure solutions for global clients in a variety of sectors (e.g. Manufacturing, Retail, Financial, Transport). 

Typical duties include;
- Designing and implementing Microsoft & VMware Converged and Hyper-Converged solutions.
- Microsoft Azure integration (IAAS).
- Running customer workshops
- Completion of High and Low Level Design Documentation.
- Acting as a UK centre of competence for Hitachi Global Services and Solutions and creating white papers and internal guides for use globally.
- Working directly with EMEA colleagues to expand and enhance the Hitachi Microsoft product and services offerings, particularly in the Microsoft space.
- Developing strong relationships with customers to ensure an appreciation of current and potential benefits available from Hitachi cloud and converged platforms, products and services in their environment.
- Providing expertise on the best practice of deploying and integrating infrastructure into existing environments, including helping guide operational best practices including but not limited to patch, change and asset management.
- Developing security hardening guides and best practice documentation
- Delivering formal presentations of technical solutions to Hitachi customers, partners and internal staff.

Senior Technical Consultant - Microsoft Infrastructure (Cloud, Converged, Hyper-Converged)

Block Solutions

- Technical implementation of Cisco UCS based Microsoft and VMware infrastructure solutions during the delivery phase of project(s), many involving large NHS trusts across the UK.
- Technical input into project meetings and planning sessions with overall responsibility for specific elements of Infrastructure design.
- Attending project meetings where appropriate to build Block’s technical credibility across all levels within the customer and become seen as a trusted advisor.
- Conducting client infrastructure audits and remediation programmes, covering a range of Data Centre technologies
- Completing Low Level Design and supporting documentation.
- Acting as a mentor to engineer and consultant level staff, and performing knowledge transfer sessions for the handover of delivered solutions to support.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of existing Data Centre delivery processes

Data Centre Principal Consultant

Hitachi Consulting

Managing a team of Infrastructure consultants based across the EMEA region and in the Global Service Centre in India.  Main technical focus in Microsoft & VMware Infrastructure solutions, with in-depth experience in related areas including storage, security and local area networks.
Typical duties include;
- Team management and development.
- Handling complex (technical) infrastructure related escalations.
- Completion of high and low level technical design.
- Vendor management.
- Generating and presenting regular KPI data for the Infrastructure and Hosting EMEA team.
- Providing technical guidance, support and training to team members.
- Global Community of Practice member, helping to define and promote common working practices and standards across different infrastructure teams.

EMEA Infrastructure Manager

- Design, build and support of Microsoft and VMware based infrastructure solutions for numerous Managed Services clients.
- Acting as the primary infrastructure consultant for multiple key clients and building relationships to be seen as a trusted advisor.
- Attending regular client service review meetings.
- Proposing new technical solutions to meet business requirements and recommending improvements to existing processes and procedures.
- Mentoring associates, consultants and providing a point of escalation for technical related issues.

With 25 years of experience in Information Technology, I am currently a co-founder and director of Vorago, an IT company that helps businesses of all sizes adopt and utilise cloud-based IT services efficiently and securely, as well as addressing common pain points in their 'traditional' IT infrastructure. As a virtual CTO, I also provide strategic guidance, technical leadership and architecture solutions to our clients using various technologies including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.

I am passionate about technology and its potential to transform businesses and solve problems. I have worked in different roles and levels across solution architecture, consultancy, presales, management, project delivery and operational support for large service providers, vendors, and consultancy firms. My mission is to work with organisations to overcome the traditional IT challenges and headaches that are holding them back, and to open up new opportunities for them and their customers.
