Led team of developers to build and launch ed-tech startup's MVP and V1 product for school attendance tracking. Developed demo using realtime ML-based facial recognition. Modernized tech stack to AWS Lambda, GraphQL, TypeScript, React, Storybook, PostgreSQL with automated CI/CD.

Embedded API integrations at Lead Commerce:
Built custom embedded API integrations for warehouse tech startup, including QuickBooks, Stripe, and ShipStation. Apollo Server, GraphQL, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS.

AR/XR web platform at ArchieMD:
As solo full stack developer, integrated AR/VR e-learning experiences into web portal built with NextJS and React for training nurses, medics, and surgeons.

Managing Partner

Subtonic

We built Subtonic to bring modern web tech to music education. I developed our first prototype to give musicians real-time feedback on their accuracy in pitch and rhythm in the browser and then with a small team built a two-way marketplace around this technology. Our tech stack includes React, Redux, Node, Redis, Postgres, and Mongo. We implemented many sought-after features including payments, accounts, social media, gamification, live streaming, referrals, and more from the ground up.

Arcanium Software Development

Here I led a team of engineers that developed enterprise-grade, cross platform software for for start-ups and large corporations alike. In this role I consulted for 1 year at Sharpspring (a publicly-traded Hubspot competitor), where I wrote production-quality code with GraphQL/Apollo, Typescript, Docker, Miscroservices, and React with an Agile/Scrum/Kanban workflow. Then I became a tech team lead at vinelytics.com, usher.events and other startups before ultimately becoming a COO and 10% stakeholder. I left the company just prior to it being acqui-hired because I knew I wanted to stay in startups. Later on original founder Stephen Bryant asked me if I'd like to start a new company by the same name. I said yes and the Arcanium of 2021 and onwards was born.

Worked as a research scientist in the Interface Group under the guidance of Professor Vartan Kurtcuoglu on a system for the evaluation of the safety and efficacy of bypassing the blood-brain barrier with focused ultrasound and microbubbles.

Developed low frequency system for measuring standing waves in the National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex 40 x 80 Foot Wind Tunnel at NASA Ames Research Center under the supervision of Dr. Ben Sim of the U.S. Army and Dr. William Warmbrodt of NASA.

Worked with LabView and National Instruments hardware for high-channel count data acquisition with microphones, accelerometers, thermocouples, strain bridges and optical strain gauges on a variety of company projects. Worked with a team developing product demos for prospective customers.

As the founder and CEO of Arcanium Ventures, I help founders build successful companies in various domains, such as healthcare, education, gaming, finance, food, voice, AI, e-commerce, real estate, and more. With over 10 years of experience in the digital products space, I have contributed to over 100 projects spanning web, mobile, voice, AI, blockchain, cloud, IoT, recruiting, staffing, and creative services.

My academic background includes a PhD in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, where I received the John G. Martin Scholarship and the EPSRC Challenging Engineering Award. I was also a US Fulbright Scholar and an engineering intern at government labs at the US Dept. of Energy and NASA. I'm an AWS Cloud Practitioner and a graduate of the NewChip Series A Accelerator. 

I'm a high-EQ leader and lifelong learner who is passionate about helping founders bring ideas to life. I'm also a proud member of the Austin startup community, where I serve on the advisory boards of several startups, including Keyspan, where I'm helping the company leverage data and automation to help people live healthier for longer.
