As a technical manager and software architect, I work with high-growth companies on both technical and organisational issues related to performance, scalability, security, privacy, identity management, and data production and management. Many of these roles have strong financial and regulatory components. I'm a people-first operator. Whether in a managerial role or a technical one, success comes from a focus on supporting and developing our people. Typically I work on large cross-cutting initiatives across multiple business units or areas of responsibility. My combination of technical and business background gives me the tools to translate between the technical domain and the financial, legal, and regulatory domains, helping to ensure that both values and practices are aligned across domains. Aside from these day-to-day concerns, some of my favourite work involves corporate acquisitions, where I help both with both pre-purchase technical due diligence, and with post-merge technical and team integration. MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP BACKGROUND includes: • Prima Insurance: I managed our Data Platform team on a mission to unify a forest of legacy individual data pipelines under a single highly automated framework. • Builder.ai: I led a team of software architects and troubleshooters in cross-functional work to improve quality and good practices across a multi hundred developer organisation, and to increasingly automate our workflow. • Hopin: As a Principal Engineer I led privacy engineering, international expansion, and data-engineering and and analysis projects, and supported a variety of cross-team architectural efforts in this rapidly-growing international and multi-product organisation. Further served in depth in merger and acquisition analysis/diligence and subsequent integration. • Smart Pension: I was architect on scalability, performance, identity management, and sensitive data management as we expanded from a regional provider to a multinational presence. • Northrop Grumman / USPS: Served as architect and tech lead in nation-scale postal systems handling $20B+/yr business ops with high transaction volumes. • Sun Microsystems: Managed validation of key elements of the Enterprise Java platform. • Apple: Management and technical roles in key OS platform initiative. • Leadership roles up to CTO in smaller firms.
