When I told people I was starting my own recruitment company in Dubai, most people (including my Mum) had the same reaction:

“Are you sure?” 
“It’s risky.”
“Everyone’s already doing that.”

What they didn’t realise is that I wasn’t trying to compete, I was trying to change something.

I wanted to build an agency that treated candidates like humans, not numbers. One that supported women and actually cared.

I knew nothing about building strategies, algorithms, branding, ATS systems, or scaling. I figured it out one mistake at a time.

I hired women, mostly without experience, and trained them from scratch. I built a brand so pink people couldn’t ignore it. I built a community long before I built a business.

And today?
We’re a fully female team.
We’re a multi-million dollar business.

We’re launching a job board that will change how people apply for roles and hire in the Middle East. 

But the thing I’m proud of the most? 

We did it the unconventional way.

Months where I transferred salaries to my team and left my own name blank.
Months where suppliers got paid before I did.
Months where I looked at my bank balance and thought, “How am I going to get through this month?”

But I still showed up the next morning - pink laptop, two dogs, a ridiculous amount of determination and a smile on my face. 

People see the brand now.
What they don’t see is what it cost.

They don’t see the years of sacrificing my own salary so my team could keep theirs.
They don’t see the nights I stayed awake worrying about payroll.
They don’t see the pressure of knowing that other people’s livelihoods rely on your decisions.

Entrepreneurship isn’t glamorous.
It’s grit. It’s responsibility. It’s choosing the long-term vision over short-term comfort.

And I’d do it all again.

Because today, Pink Camel is what it is because I refused to let anyone else carry the burden for my dream.

My team always got paid.
My suppliers always got paid.
And eventually… so did I.
