I have experience from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) as an academic leader, researcher, teacher, supervisor and innovator, at a leading international level in engineering cybernetics. I also have industrial experience as an engineer and R&D manager from Kongsberg Maritime, an internationally leading company in the maritime industry. In 2019, I was one of the co-founders of the maritime autonomy company Zeabuz. I am currently a member of the Norwegian Board of Technology, and have previously been a member of the expert group on enabling technologies for the Norwegian Digital21 strategy. Together with fantastic colleagues, I am currently involved in several activities, including: 1. Working to manifest the world's first autonomous electric ferries for urban waterways. This work has so far resulted in world-leading research results, the spinoff-company Zeabuz, and the world's first trial operation of such a ferry in the Canal in Trondheim, see e.g. https://youtu.be/wVMWbMSlaXM and https://zeam.se/ 2. Working to revitalize the coastal areas in Norway currently being depopulated in favor of the largest metropolitan areas. In our work, we're supported by the Norwegian government through a direct funding over the National budget for 2023. This funding will be used for a pilot on the new concept of a Coastal development center, in Kirkenes. We have assembled an incredible consortium, including NTNU which educates 80% of the tech students in Norway, local actors, property developers and friends from Finland. One component is the new ICE innovation festival, a spinoff of Slush. 3. Working to develop the Nyhavna harbor area in Trondheim into what we call "Nyhavna 5.0", where we envision a high-tech cluster of researchers, students, startup companies, supplier companies, end-user companies, venture capitalists, Vitensenteret, etc. - all focusing on ocean space technology – to be gathered in a compact location right by the fjord, with apartments, cultural institutions, general commerce, etc. - making it a 24-7 high-tech urban area. 4. Working to establish the new field of "societal cybernetics". Separate models of parts of society exist today, but not cross-connected models able to explain the societal phenomena we observe today, where everything is more strongly connected with everything. The aim of societal cybernetics is to create better models and tools for decision support, enabling better insights into society's relationships both large and small, to navigate better in large and small decisions that have to be made in society.
