2025: I have 7K + followers
But I don’t consider it an achievement. 

Let’s take a look at a different graph instead.

2023: Was earning $25 as a freelancer (almost broke) 
2025: Gradually and consistently building $600+ MRR

I intend to cross the $1000 mark by December. 

This post is not about having big goals. 
It's not even about not celebrating small wins.

It's about focusing on the right things. 

Many tie their identities to the vanity metrics of this platform. 

Gained 150 followers? They go crazy. 
Gained 15 followers the next day? They lose it. 

Their life becomes a spiral. 

Create → Post → Build numbers → Repeat

They don't even remember what they're doing or why they're doing it anymore. 

My reason for being on LinkedIn is to make money. 
Plain and simple. 

How I do it is a different story. 

I started with 0 in April. 
Built it up to $250 by June. 
Was at $400 by the end of July. 
Crossed $500 by the end of August. 

The growth wasn't exponential. 
But it has been gradual and steady. 

So, whenever metrics drop or engagement comes down, it doesn't matter to me. 

200 engagement? Great. 
70 engagement? That's cool, too. 

It's good to build those numbers, 
But don't lose sight of your priority here. 

Focus on your true success metric. 
You'll never worry much about any other numbers.

I had a very interesting conversation with my mom last night.
Not in a million years did I think she'd say that to me.

I’ve been working from my hometown for a few days now. 
The amount of time I’ve been spending in front of the screen is off the charts. 

I remember to have breakfast when she brings a plate.
Until she turns the lights on, it wouldn’t strike me that it’s already 6 PM.

I sat with her yesterday after my daily share of work. 

She asked me if I was exhausted. 

The question was obviously rhetorical, with me collapsing on the chair beside her with drooping eyelids. 

Then she said:
“Why don’t you go play Bowling or something? They have nice games in the mall.”

I just laughed at the irony.

Many years ago, I had to ask her for permission to go play with my friends for one hour. 
I’d be dreading her if I got home even half an hour late. 

My 7-year-old self would be happy to see this happen, though 17 years later. 

But it hit me...
I haven’t stepped out of the house in a week. 

So, I added 7 things to my to-do list this week:

– Play bowling at the mall 
– Go to the beach one morning
– Learn and cook one new recipe
– Teach my mom to speak English
– Explore one new cafeteria in town 
– Add a family game as a bedtime ritual 

Remote work has this amazing ability to drain the life out of you. 
And I'm finally tired enough that I decided to tweak things a little. 

Hope you don't learn it the hard way like me. 

What do you do to avoid burning out?

Most major decisions in my life were made out of fear and not preparation. 

Going to Odisha to pursue BBA? 
I've never lived outside my city before. 

Taking a 2-year gap after Undergrad? 
I was considered a loser. 

Doing an MBA in a 2nd Tier B-School? 
I prepared for the CAT for 22 days. 

Writing a book that'll be out this year? 
Thanks to a major heartbreak. 

Doing something of my own after a job loss? 
I was scared every damn day.

I still don't know what tomorrow looks like. 
My family isn't completely okay with what I'm doing. 

Am I risking everything? 
Absolutely. 

Am I sure I'll be victorious? 
Not at all.

Does that stop me? 
No. 

Because I know this one thing:
My chance is RIGHT NOW. 

If I don't do it now, 
I'll never be able to. 

That's what keeps me motivated. 

I don't want to prove anything to anyone. 
I'm just taking a chance on myself. 

Because if I don't, who else will?

I've been freelancing for many months now. 
I doubted myself every single day.

Some of these doubts include:

→ Is this the right path for me?
→ Will I ever be able to say, "I made it"?
→ How will I make a solid career out of this?
→ Should I go back to doing a 9-5?
→ Do I even have the capability to make this work?

Beyond all these moments exists a simple 'why'.

I want to see what I'm made of. 

When I didn't have the guts to choose this path for myself, life made me do it. 

It's easy for failures to make us wonder about every decision we make. 
But even a single step forward is proof that self-doubt doesn't need to stop you. 

So, 
The next time you doubt yourself, 
Pause and ask, "Why can't I do it?"

That changes the whole equation.

One of my clients wrote a post for himself last week despite hiring me to do so. 

But here's the twist:
It performed better than the last few posts I wrote for him. 

When he shared the post with me, I said, 
"Can we rework this?"

Because everything was different from what I've been doing. 

→ The hook wasn't a scroll-stopper.
→ The post wasn't well-formatted.
→ The emojis we never use were used. 

He said, "Harshith, this will work."
And it did. 

I didn't feel insecure; I felt uneasy. 
"What have I been doing wrong?" I asked myself. 

When I couldn't make it out, I called for a meeting.

And that meeting was an eye-opener for me. 
What the client shared went against everything I've been doing for him so far. 

→ I was using the same playbook I’ve used for my other clients
↳ When I needed an entirely different approach for his profile. 

→ I was trying to make the algorithm happy
↳ When I should be trying to make his ICP relate to him.

→ I was dumbing down the posts for LinkedIn
↳ When I should be making people curious with his content. 

→ I was focused on using his pictures for visuals 
↳ When his content required thought-provoking graphics.

In his case, “what worked” was depth, nuance, and ideas that made the reader ponder for a while.

Not posts that were easy to understand. 

We talk so much about “what works” here:

✓ Always add a picture
✓ Keep your sentences readable
✓ Use hooks with only certain frameworks

But what works for one person doesn’t have to work for another.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do as a ghostwriter is shut up and listen.

Clients aren’t undermining your expertise.
They’re giving you the insider knowledge you can’t find in a LinkedIn playbook.

If you’re building on LinkedIn, remember this:

Playbooks can only take you so far.
But the people you serve?
They’ll tell you exactly what works for them if you're open to learn.

I confess. 
I’m not a hustler. 

August was way too hectic for me.
But it was also a month of revelation.

→ I was in front of my laptop 10-12 hours a day
→ I didn't read as much as I did in the other months
→ I was glued to my desk and got very minimal movement
→ My sleep quality was at an all-time low, with regular nightmares

I can go on.

It's not that I didn't enjoy what I did.

I looked forward to working every day.
I was finally doing what I always wanted to.

That doesn't mean I wasn't burning out.

I felt tired before 4 PM daily.
I would want to throw my laptop away and disappear. 

There may be people out there who never feel tired of doing what they love, but I do. 

I need some me-time in the day. 

I need to get my run in. 
I need to read 20 pages of fiction. 
I need to play a few chess matches.
I need to watch a few episodes of anime. 
I need to sit for my meditation every morning.
I need to play carroms with my mom before bed. 

If hustling means having no time to do any of these, then no, I'm not a hustler. 

And I'm okay with that. 

I've never been a fan of hustle culture. 

Not because I want to "live my life."
But because that's how I avoid burning out.

If you want to carve your own path, a difficult conversation with your parents can't be avoided. 

I got into an argument with my dad a few nights ago. 

I was fed up with how difficult it has been for me to do something I wanted, 
And he pointed out how I went against his wishes and missed opportunities. 

Mom was looking at both of us, not knowing whose side to take. 

We were both on different pages. 

My parents had a simple expectation from me:
That I found a job and settled down like a 'normal' person.

I knew I couldn't do it. 
But I also knew I didn't want to defy them or be a rebel. 

So, I drew out a map for them to understand what I intend to do in the next two years, down to the last detail. 

Told them why it matters to me, 
How much I've moved forward since I began, 
And where I believe I will be by the end of this year. 

It was the hardest conversation I've ever had with them.
But it was worth every faster heartbeat. 

The argument may have been very uncomfortable,
But it yielded a good outcome. 

They agreed, though a little reluctantly, to let me do what I wanted. 

I've seen many turn their relationship with their parents sour in the process. 

I don't believe that parents don't understand. 
They wish the best for their children and always recommend what they know.

But to explain things to them, though hard, is the right choice to make. 

I wouldn't have been able to come this far without them.
And it's not fair to them to not know what's on my mind. 

There will be resistance. 
There will be reluctance. 

But the relief is immeasurably high once they get on the same team.

I do not have a rigid price on my offer. 
But that's not because I don't charge a premium. 

There are different kinds of prospects I keep meeting with. 

→ Some don't have the budget for LinkedIn
→ Some have businesses that are in a growing stage
→ Some are focused on getting coached more than hiring
→ Some people are not sure how much to spend on LinkedIn
→ Some have the budget but are confused about their objective

And I optimise my budget for every single category. 
So, I don't present it as a fixed amount. 

I break it down into a range. 

Let's consider a hypothetical conversation:

Them –
"Hey, I'm not sure if I have the budget for LinkedIn."

Me –
"It's alright, 20K - 40K is the range in which you can choose what suits you the best."

Them –
"Oh, but what if we go with the least number you suggest in the range?"

Me –
"Starting with 20K is a great entry point, but the higher range allows for faster growth and more experiments.

We can always expand once you start seeing results. It really depends on how fast you want to grow."

Ends their confusion and lets them choose what suits them best. 

Pricing isn't about charging the highest. 
Pricing is about creating a win for both parties.

I do talk about myself a lot here, 
But here are 11 things you may not know about me:

1. I need music 24/7. It's like oxygen for me. 

2. I'm a highly spiritual person and a long-time meditator

3. I've always been the favorite of English and Math teachers. 

4. I can speak 4 languages, understand 7. 

5. The only teetotaler in the room who parties hard without alcohol. 

6. Despite everything I do, I keep feeling mediocre at times. 

7. I can't spend my day without playing at least 5 chess matches. 

8. I'm extremely punctual, but I suck at managing my time. 

9.⁠ ⁠I love to run, but I've yet to run my first marathon (even 10KM).

10. ⁠Leave me in a room full of people, and I'll know every single person.

11. I need at least 6 hours of sleep to survive the next day.
