Mozn Shaker is a Senior PM at DEWA, where he is part of the innovation and digital transformation strategy project. 

He has a MicroMasters in Data, Economics and Development Policy from MIT, and a master's degree in International Business and Languages from Sorbonne University.

Mozn is also the founder of Mezan Institute, a platform that offers specialized Arabic language courses and personal development & growth courses. 

He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and expertise with hundreds of learners and professionals, and helping them achieve their personal and career goals.

6 years ago, I made a daring move. 

I left my stable job to start my own business. Why?

I wanted to make a difference.

In 2018, I began my solo entrepreneur training business.

It wasn’t easy.
There were challenges.
But each obstacle became a lesson

I explored new places, cultures, and languages. 

- From Paris’s charm to Riyadh’s energy
- From Cairo’s streets to Dubai’s eclectic vibe
- From Moscow’s cosmopolitan feel to Lebanon’s rich culture, & Qatar’s diverse landscapes.

I gained valuable skills:

- Basic visual design
- Creating online courses
- Money-making techniques
- Building WordPress websites

I’ve had the privilege to engage with top companies like Google, Microsoft, AWS, DEWA, IBM, and McKinsey.

My journey had ups and downs.

But I learnt a valuable lesson:

- Your journey matters. 
- Embrace the ups & downs - they mould your story. 
- When doubt kicks in, tell yourself - “I am enough.”

7 Best-selling courses, 16k+ Udemy learners later.. 

These 7 mistakes nearly ended my course creation journey.

1. Misjudging the Audience: I assumed I knew their needs, but I was wrong. It's vital to discover their real struggles first.

2. Overcomplicating Content: I used too much jargon, thinking it sounded professional. Learners prefer clear and simple explanations.

3. Ignoring Storytelling: I focused only on facts, but stories are what truly engage people.

4. Skipping Feedback: I launched without getting feedback, risking a course that might not meet learners' needs.

5. Forgetting Marketing: I thought quality content would be enough. Without marketing, even great courses can be overlooked.

6. Content Overload: I added too much content, causing overwhelm. Shorter, targeted lessons are better.

7. Neglecting Design: I didn't focus on design, not realizing its power to enhance learning and engagement.

These missteps taught me valuable lessons for creating a course that I'm now proud of.
