I used to think everyone else was miles ahead of me.

Turns out, we are all just trying not to look lost!

When I started my business after uni, I was terrified.

Everyone online looked confident,
while I was googling how to send invoices.

So I played it safe.
Took any work I could find.

Because I thought they knew something I didn’t.

But the more people I met,
the more I saw the pattern:

Nobody’s got it all together.

Even the ones who seem calm and certain,
they’re just managing the chaos differently.

And weirdly, that’s the most freeing thing I’ve ever learned.

Because once you stop comparing,
you start progressing.

You stop chasing someone else’s version of success,
and start defining your own.

I once treated content creation like a competition.

And it almost made me quit completely.

At first, I obsessed over the wrong things.

• Leads acquired.

Every day felt like a game I could never win.

When a post performed well,
I felt on top of the world.

When it didn’t,
I questioned everything.

So, I started forcing it...

Copying formats that worked for others,
writing what I thought people wanted to hear.

And somewhere in all that noise,
I lost my voice.

My content stopped feeling creative.
It started feeling mechanical.

Until one evening,
staring at another “average” post,
I asked myself a question I’d never considered before:

What if this isn’t a game I’m supposed to win,

and instead started treating it as an infinite one.

In the infinite game,
there’s no finish line.

And the funny thing?

When I stopped chasing “winning posts,”
everything started working.

When you share what you've been through…

You're not being selfish.
You're being of service.

So stop holding back.

Your journey matters more than you realise.

I’ve got a confession to tell you!

For a long time, I thought I was doing everything right.

I studied what worked.
Followed every “proven” framework.
Edited every line until it resonated with impact.

And for a while, it looked like progress..
But something felt… off.

My content sounded good.
But it didn’t sound like me.

That’s when I realised:

People don’t connect with perfection.
They connect with personality.

So I started doing the exact opposite of what the “experts” said.

I wrote like I talk.
Shared what scared me.
Added opinions I used to hide behind polite phrasing.

And the change was instant.

• Comments went from polite to passionate.
• Connections became conversations.
• Followers turned into clients.

But the biggest shift wasn’t in the metrics,
it was in my mindset.

Because when you show up as yourself,
you stop asking for permission.

You show up as the raw, true you…

• Unfiltered
• Unpolished
• Unapologetic

That’s the hidden truth most people miss.
Because no one can copy your truth.

And when you take off your mask,
it shows up in countless ways...

Your stories become lessons no book could teach.
Your flaws make people relate to and trust you.

Your words stop sounding like marketing,
and start sounding like truth.

Before you know it...

Showing up no longer feels like a performance,
and instead becomes an extension of who you already are.

That’s why it works.

Not because you found the perfect formula…
But because you finally stopped hiding.

So, now I have a question for you:

Preparation is overrated.

And it's holding you back (like it did for me)

I used to spend hours researching before creating anything.

Marketing strategies for clients.
Content frameworks.
Presentation decks.

I'd tell myself I was being professional.
Responsible. Thorough. 

But really?
I was just scared of putting out imperfect work.

Because research has no stakes.

You can't fail at Googling.
You can't mess up reading articles.

But creating something and putting it out there?
That's vulnerable.

So I'd stay in preparation mode.
Indefinitely.

But I began realising that 80% preparation is enough.
A.K.A. The Parreto Principles (the 80/20 rule)

Once you have the fundamentals down,
the rest is just diminishing returns.

You're not getting more clarity.
You're getting more comfortable delaying.

The real learning happens when you take action.

When you create the thing.
Ship it out there to the world.
Get feedback on the thing.

I proved this to myself recently.

I spent 2 hours researching a content strategy for a client.
Then I spent 30 minutes implementing it with them.

And in those 30 minutes, we learned more than the 2 hours of research taught us.

Because reality is the best teacher.

Not theory.
Not articles.
Not case studies.

Reality.

Now I operate differently:

Research to 80%.
Then execute.

The missing 20%?
I figure it out by doing.

And it's made me faster, more confident, and more effective.

Because I'm learning from action,
not from avoiding it.

Last week, I put it to the test.

I asked 10 business owners at random:
“What do you do?”

9 of them gave me a 2-minute explanation that left me more confused than when I started.

This reinforced a strong belief I already held:

Complexity harms understanding,
and therefore limits conversions.

When you make people work to understand your value,
they won't bother.

• They'll scroll past.
• They'll close your profile.
• They'll forget you exist.

But when your message is simple,
People immediately know if you're for them.

They can explain your value to others.
They remember you when they need help.

The most successful people I know can explain their value in one sentence.

Not a story.
Not a paragraph.
One clear, powerful sentence.

Because your ideal clients don't have time to decode what you do.
They need to get it instantly.

I can spot AI-written content in 3 seconds flat.

And it's everywhere on LinkedIn right now:

People think they're being clever.

Using ChatGPT to "save time."
Copying and pasting with minimal edits.
Hitting post and hoping nobody notices.

But it’s so obvious when you know these obvious signs.

Here's what gives it away instantly:

[1] Em dashes everywhere:

(Real people use periods—but AI loves these things—because it thinks—they add emphasis)

[2] The "not this, but that" formula:

(Success isn't about working hard. It's about working smart. Leadership isn't about titles. It's about influence. We get it, you've discovered unnatural sounding contrasts.)

[3] Every sentence is a fortune cookie:

("Authenticity is the new currency." "True leadership starts from within." Cool, but what does that actually mean?)

[4] Posts that feel like Frankenstein:

(Random ideas stitched together with no logical flow. Just abrupt topic changes that make zero sense.)

[5] Robotic transition phrases:

("And here's the kicker," "But here's what's fascinating," "That's when it clicked" - the AI special)

Look, I get it.

Creating content is hard.
AI makes it easier, for sure.

But if you're not adding your voice, experiences, and perspective?

You're just adding to the noise.

Your posts might get decent engagement.
But they won't build a real connection.

Because connection requires humanity.
And AI doesn't have that.

You do.

Use it.

P.S. What's the most obvious AI post you've seen this week?

Most executives are writing content wrong.

They're optimising for the wrong audience!

Picture this:

A CEO posts about advanced industry strategies.
They get tons of likes from other CEOs.

So, naturally, they feel validated.
Yet, their ideal clients scroll past.

Because the content went over their heads.
It felt exclusive, not inclusive.

And the disconnect is obvious:

You're writing to impress peers.
But peers aren't prospects.

Your fellow executives might appreciate your insights.
But they're not the ones buying your services.

The question becomes:
Do you want industry credibility or client conversions?

Both matter.

But if you're only focused on one...
You're missing the bigger opportunity.

Smart leaders know this:

Write 80% for your ideal clients.
Write 20% for your peers.

Balance both.
But never forget who pays the bills.

There’s an important theme in everything I’ve just said,
yet many successful business owners are oblivious to it.

That theme?

Your business reputation and your personal reputation go hand in hand.

You see, that’s the thing you need to realise…
People don't just buy from businesses anymore.

They buy from people they trust.
They want to know who's behind the company.

Your LinkedIn presence creates that trust.

It’s not because you:

Lack experience

The goal isn't to be seen by everyone.

That's not luck.
That's intentional authority building.

And it starts with one simple decision:
Stepping out of the shadows.

Yet, somehow, just somehow,
I convinced myself that was the way forward.

But really?
I was hiding.

putting myself out there felt uncomfortable…

Scared of judgment and standing out.

So I posted content anyone could write:

• Generic advice.
• Surface-level insights.
• Nothing that represented me.

And my results proved it…

• No clients.
• No real connections.
• No exciting opportunities.

Because when you hide,
you blend in.

Yet, when I reflected on this,
something shifted within me…

I started expressing my personality:

• My slightly sarcastic tone.
• My real hard-hitting opinions.
• My thought-provoking perspectives.

I stopped playing it safe,
and it changed everything for me:

• Creating content became easier.
• Opportunities started appearing.
• Ideal clients consistently came my way.

And that was just the business side of things.

From a personal standpoint,
I experienced huge changes, too…

I felt more confident in my own skin.
More willing to invest in myself.
More alive.

All because I stopped hiding.

But, here’s what I wish I'd known earlier:

The exact thing you're scared to show?
That's what sets you apart.

Your personality isn't something you should tone down.
It's what makes you impossible to copy.

When you hide it,
you blend in.

When you embrace it,
you stand out.

And the people who resonate with the real you?
They become your best clients, partners, and connections.

The ones who don't?
They were never meant for you anyway.

I spent an afternoon thinking about my death.

How much time do I actually have?

Well, if I live to exactly 85, I have 21,954 days left.
(And yes, I calculated it to the exact date, aha!)

Sure, it sounds like a lot.

But then I thought:
How many of those will I waste?

Scrolling.
Procrastinating.
Working on things that don't matter.

From that frame of mind,
my priorities became crystal clear:

• I don’t take small jobs that don't align with my vision.
• I don’t spend time with people who drain me.
• I don’t worry about what people think of me.

Because from the perspective of death,
none of that matters.

The Stoics had a name for this practice:
Memento mori (Remember you will die).

But for them, it wasn’t depressing.
It gave them clarity like it did for me.

And that’s what the Stoics understood so well.

Rather than viewing their mortality as depressing,
they saw it as liberating.

When you remember your time is finite,
you find yourself valuing it more.

When you remember that you'll die,
you starting living with greater tent.

But most people don’t do this.
They avoid thinking about death.

But the Stoics (and now me, too) say:
Meditate on it regularly.

Not to be grim.
But to be sane.

I used to spend hours writing the perfect “value” post.

But something about them always felt… empty.

Every sentence was clear.
Every point made sense.

But when I read them back,
I couldn’t feel me in them.

It bothered me.

Because I was doing everything right,
but somehow, it still felt wrong.

It took months for me to understand why.

I realised I wasn’t writing to connect.
I was writing to prove.

And in trying to sound valuable, I stripped out the thing that actually made what I said valuable:

My perspective.

It made sense too,
especially once I realised this:

Anyone can share information.
But no one else can share your interpretation of it.

Your lessons.
Your scars.
Your lens.

That’s what people come back for.

Not because they want another tip,
but because they want to see the world through you.

What if every person posted like you?

Would LinkedIn be better or worse?

This question hit me hard a few months ago.

As I scrolled through LinkedIn, I paused,
and noticed something disturbing…

The same recycled advice everywhere.
The same empty motivational quotes.
The same desperate attention-grabbing tactics.

It made me think of Immanuel Kant's universal law principle:

Act only in ways you'd want to become universal law.

Imagine if everyone posted exactly like you do…

Would we have a platform full of valuable insights,
a platform where people want to show up daily?
Or would we have an endless wasteland of noise?

The reality is, most people make LinkedIn worse.

They're posting for vanity instead of value.
They're performing instead of being authentic.
They're copying trends instead of sharing truth.

But here's the opportunity:
You can tap into your uniqueness.

You can post content that elevates the conversation.
You can share insights that genuinely help people.
You can be the person you'd want to engage with.

Because when you create content that’s worth paying attention to…

You're not just building your personal brand.
You're making the entire platform better.

P.S. What would LinkedIn look like if everyone posted like you?

The Wright Brothers were incredible inventors.

But they were also marketing geniuses:

Before they sold their first airplane...
They sold the idea of human flight.

They reached out to:

• Newspapers
• Potential investors,
• The general public

But they weren’t just sharing experiments.
They were investing in the belief that humans could fly.

So, they continued building excitement though:

• Storytelling: Painting the dream in vivid detail.
• Demonstrations: Bringing flight to life beyond theory.
• Embracing a challenge: Taking risks as everyone watched.

They let the media watch them work.
They let curiosity and suspense sell for them.

And it worked.

Newspapers across the United States,
and even the world,
covered their success.

People gossiped.
Investors watched
And soon belief spread

All because the Wright Brothers understood one key thing:

Innovation alone isn’t enough.
