GOOGLE HCU IS NOT JUST ABOUT CONTENT!

It's about BRAND AUTHORITY / UGC.

It's not about quality content.

I've audited LOTS of sites wiped out by HCU, they had EXCELLENT CONTENT, they had good engagement.

It's authority, brand authority.

We're back to LINKS again.

GOOGLE CANNOT READ, INTERPRET & UNDERSTAND CONTENT AS TO WHAT'S "GOOD" THEREFORE IT CANNOT EASILY MAKE A DECISION ON WHAT'S GOOD.

There's "WHAT'S GOOD" and then "WHAT'S PERCEIVED AS HELPFUL".

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHAT'S HELPFUL? Behaviour.

The things Google has:

👉 Links 
👉 Brand authority signals i.e. brand search/alt search etc.
👉 User behaviour

HCU would be based towards "can we trust the content" first classifier post E-E-A-T (guessing)

If not, devalue.

I've looked at SO SO SO SO MUCH DATA - I see the EXACT SAME PATTERN OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

If you want recovery.

👉 Build brand
👉 Build links
👉 Be prepared to be patient


I've seen sites CULLING HIGH QUALITY CONTENT in an attempt to recover traffic.

Guess what - it doesn't work.

HCU is likely TIME BASED also - so it;s likely to be subsequent future updates where recovery is noticed and not recovery outside of a core update.

For the first time in my career I am happy to say on behalf of most SEOs - Google has made a HUGE COCKUP with HCU, they've upset a lot of the community and now pushing SGE is further salt in the wounds.

DECIMATING CREATOR CONTENT, favouring big brands and then using REDDIT UGC to train their AI for SGE - is like a massive F**** you to the creator community.

Guess what? Google doesn't care does it John?
