I started off as a trainee while completing my Diploma in Early Childhood Education. This diploma helped to support my travels abroad, as I was able to teach English to Taiwanese children in the classroom and later on I was able to teach Chinese, Korean, Japanese and later Russian adults and children online. This experience helped me to be creative and adaptable to the needs of the students and to overcome the language barrier. My rich experiences abroad have taught me a lot of things a classroom can’t teach me, and has shaped me to be a better person. My volunteer work within Jehovah’s Witnesses have also helped me to be a compassionate and understanding person, and which is where my passion of customer service started. My travels and volunteer work have given me qualities that I’ve been able to transfer to my current position. I returned to Australia in December 2021 after spending almost 6 years abroad. I was about to turn 23 and I decided it was time for a career change. I briefly worked as a sandwich artist as I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do. It didn’t take me long to realise I wanted something hands-on, customer facing and to bring smiles to people’s faces. I eventually became a barista at the Coffee Club, not only because it has all the things I’m looking for in a career, but I love to relax in cafes in my spare time and I wanted to give that experience back to others. I’ve learned to be able to overcome challenges such as staying friendly despite periods of high volume and boosting staff morale during these times. Apart from making coffee, customer service is a huge passion of mine. I love to build relationships with my customers which makes my job a lot more meaningful and makes the most difficult days more manageable. I can confidently say I’m a customer service kind of girl. In December 2022, an opportunity arose to join an industry that has become a huge part of me - tourism. I feel, I finally found my niche. I love being able to give back the experiences I had when I travelled the world, and to give every guest a happy memory to take home. It's so exciting working for an international brand like Merlin Entertainments, and on top of that I get to hang out with celebrities at Madame Tussauds Sydney and walk along glass platforms at The Sydney Tower Eye. I can honestly say "I love what I do."
