I am the guy who always sees the glass half-full.

Software is transforming the world around us at a superfast pace. What was not possible just a few years or months ago is possible now. Software is fundamentally changing the mortgage experience for borrowers, lenders and investors.

At Vaultedge, we work with leading mortgage lenders and investors to reduce loan production & due diligence costs and at the same time improve the experience for their borrowers. Our software helps them automate the very manual, time consuming and error prone activities in Loan Processing/Setup, Post-Close Audit and Due Diligence there by saving 50% to 80% of costs. The software works in conjunction with humans to automate the tasks where possible and to make them easy where it is not.

Vaultedge is a winner of Nasscom BPM Customer Excellence Award. What pleases me most is the fact that, this award is based on the work we did with our customers and the results they achieved using our software. We are also a winner of Nasscom Emerge 50 Award, given to high caliber, innovative software product companies helmed by never-say-die entrepreneurs.

As the CEO of Vaultedge, my first job is to make sure that as a company we are solving problems that really matter to our customers. Truth be told, it is not always easy to know what really matters to customers. So I spend a lot of time listening to customers, sharing our product roadmap with them and taking feedback, attending conferences and reading about the mortgage industry. I also am focussed about building a culture that is open and conducive to bringing out the best from everybody.

Finally, I worry about doing the right thing while still delivering results.

It has almost been a month since Global Fintech Fest concluded and I am still marveling at the scale and depth of the event. I loved everything about the event - the scale, the speaker lineup, how well the event was organized (considering its scale) and the amazing sessions. I got the same feedback from many other that attended the event. The one complaint that many had was that - they could not attend many of the sessions that they wanted to.

Our team at Vaultedge took this to heart and has put together a summary of all the key sessions of the event. We are publishing the summary here. There is a lot of content; so we are publishing this as a 3-part series, one for each day of the event.

Better's Vishal Garg says - “The average mortgage company, it costs them about $12,000 to make a mortgage. It costs Better.com $3,000 to make a mortgage.”
That is a stark comparison. The $12K industry number probably includes Loan Officer commission and the $3K Better's number does not and that accounts for a big part of the difference. Even then, this is a big feat.
Question is - with these numbers why is Better's market share only 0.11% (Source: 2024 HMDA data)
