- Used my role as a lead engineer to identify deficiencies in SDLC, incorporated automated tests in the CI/CD pipelines (pytest, github actions) and introduced TDD, established templates for bug reports, suggested peer reviewing design documents which shortened feature delivery time by 20%.

- Assembled and grew the backend team,  actively participated in hiring process, mentored new hires on clean code principles (such as SOLID, DRY and microservice oriented patterns) and language specific best practices, via KTs, and strict code reviews.

- Ensured quick feature delivery by running a daily review of JIRA bugs, assigned bugs to myself and the team, ensured that bug count dropped by 10-15 daily.

- Identified developer pain points in codebase, re-wrote modules following SOLID principles, microservice design patterns such as separation of concerns, reduced implementation and domain coupling; leading to a 30% increase in developer productivity.

- Designed, developed and implemented a real-time, web-socket based chat application using socket.io, Redis as the data store, and RedisQ for inter process communication; built it keeping reconnection in mind for situations with low network coverage.

- Improved the response-time of real-time web-socket modules by re-structuring data schema to reduced database i/o operations, and identifying redundant interaction with client application, this lead to a drop in latency by 40% during high traffic.

- Reduced API response times by 60% to improve responsiveness of the application, by optimizing MongoDB aggregation pipelines using various stages like $lookup, $replaceRoot, $project, $match, $addFields.

Lead Software Engineer

- Introduced asynchronous methods in select microservices using asyncio which improved their performance by 20% resulting in overall application performance by 10% across all clients, mobile and web.

- Integrated FCM, to develop a real time notification system, wrote custom solutions from scratch to handle stale tokens, and providing APIs to subscribe and unsubscribe to topics based on business logic.

- Deployed applications with Kubernetes and docker, enabled other team not familiar with kubectl to scale/downscale pods as required within testing environment by creating CLI tools.

- Actively participated in product meetings and designed database schemas and APIs prototypes, based on product requirements and UI designs.

- Conducted research on industry best practices, algorithms and libraries to use, to implement future-proof easy to modify modules yet deliver quickly as startup environment demands.

Kaizen Globe

- Revolutionised the traditional paper-based system by providing a user-friendly interface for surveyors to capture daily updates from street stalls on sales, electricity usage, and other key metrics.
- Implemented features such as location-based services, secure authentication and authorization, and real-time data synchronization, to enhance user experience and improve data accuracy.
- Reduced network usage by adding conditional API calls in react hooks.
Understood the problem of state management, used Redux as solution and React-Navigation for routing.
