😲 Taking the plunge and returning to university!

I've just started my Postgraduate Certificate: Teaching in Academic Practice (PgC TAP).

It's been a VERY long time since I've been a student, and walking into that first session felt strange … but in a good way.

Now I just need to:

💳 Collect my student ID card
🎨 Join the Art Society
🍕 Find student discounts for Domino’s pizza
📚 Start visiting the library a little more
🙈 Learn how to fit study around a full-time job

On a serious note, the main reason I'm doing this is to get better at what I do; I want to understand the theory behind effective teaching and use it to improve the way I deliver my sessions.

It's also been valuable meeting other teaching staff from across Cardiff Metropolitan University, and I’m fortunate to be on this journey with my fellow Careers colleague Megan Cooper.

Many thanks to my manager Ceris Palser SFHEA, for encouraging us to undertake this qualification and to Sarah Stacey our Programme Director and Lead Lecturer.

If anyone has been through something similar - returning to formal study after years away - I'd appreciate hearing how you found it.

Having met hundreds of our new #InternationalStudents during ‘Welcome Week’, telling them all about the Careers Service and how we can support our students, it all ended on a high this afternoon.

🤞🏼 I’m hoping that those who attended the 'How to look for a part-time job' workshop are now more confident about finding work and feel a little more settled in their new lives here in the UK.

But there’s no rest for them or for me … as the new term starts on Monday! 😲
