I started my professional journey with TCS, and eventually, I cracked Microsoft. ❤️

And starting your career with a service-based company is hard, especially if you want to get into development.

But with me personally, luckily, I got 2 projects here, and both of them were Development oriented. This helped me hone my technical skills a lot. 💪

However, it doesn’t mean that if you’re working on a Support project you can’t crack product companies, it all depends on your hard work, and preparation.

So, after 2 years at TCS, I decided to make a switch. Initially, I was not aware of how to start my preparation.

And since my DSA skills had become zero, I needed to restart it again. 😰

However, doing this would require another 7-8 months.

So, I decided to interview for companies, focused on Development-oriented companies, as this would help me upskill myself in a better way. 

Soon, I cracked Volkswagen, and finally my dream company Microsoft, through my Consistency & Hard work.

Working professionals switching from Service to Product companies often find DSA hard.

Even I found it really hard to prepare while making my switch from TCS.

So, here are 3 things that I learned with my first DSA interview →

⭐ No matter how many problems you solve, what matters is your BASICS.

Your fundamentals of the DSA should be crystal clear, as DSA is all about problem-solving. And with poor basic knowledge, you’ll not be able to clear any round.

For e.g. - Which data structure you can use to “Design a Real-time Chat System” & share the time & space complexity of the operations;

Here, multiple data structures can be used like Hash Tables, Queues, and Trees for efficient message delivery, storage, and retrieval with varied complexities.

Now, to solve this, a solid command of Basic is important.

⭐ When it comes to DSA, following a Step-By-Step Approach was my savior.

When I was given a DSA problem, this was the approach I used: 

- After understanding the problem, used the Brute Force approach & shared my idea with the interviewer with time complexity.
- Optimize first, then write simple variable names with neat code.
- Lastly, share the time & space complexity analysis.

⭐ Lastly, Communication is really important.

Tech interviews are more into a Discussion kind of format, and in the DSA round the interviewer wants to know what your thought process is. 

So, communicating with them is really really important. It helped them know whether you’re on the right track or not.
