A mom of three, I was shocked (and horrified) when our college counselor admitted that she didn't consider cost when creating Rebecca’s college list of “best fit” schools. How's that possible? In that instant, my commitment to learning and sharing what families can do to combat skyrocketing college costs was born. I spent 100 hours researching and understanding merit scholarships -- money for college based on student achievement -- for Rebecca. In the end, our three daughters were awarded $600,000 in merit scholarships. The money was great. The non-financial benefits were priceless.
