This Monday marked another year around the sun for me 💛

It brought me back to two years ago, when I travelled to Cape Town to celebrate my 30th birthday with a group of friends (and their friends).

This experience, which Erica was part of, sparked a conversation between the two of us.

How amazing is it — that we're here, half way around the world, with so many incredible people. Some we’ve known for a long time — some we just met.

How special is it to connect with them so easily.

It reminded us of our time in Dublin. A city filled with inspiring people from all over the world brought together through the tech companies that have their EMEA HQ located there.

Fast forward to summer that year: we’re back in Amsterdam and in July going through a layoff. A few days later our conversation came back to Dublin, Cape Town, and how we’re missing this sense of community and connection in this moment.

This is when we decided to do something about. 

the D2 collective was born.

A global value-based community for those working in the tech industry, designed to make it easy to forge genuine and meaningful connections.

18 months in, and I couldn’t be happier to see the D2 collective flourish, bringing together thousands of people in 10+ cities through hundred of events.

Can't wait to see what the future will hold for D2, meaningful connections and the shared experiences that await.

When Erica and I started the D2 collective, one thing was clear.

We envisioned a space where people within the tech industry could foster meaningful connections. 

The connections that were so abundant, when we were living and working in Dublin.

Over the past 18 months, we've engaged with some of the most inspiring leaders within the industry. 

They immensely impacted D2 as an organisation, enriching our events as speakers, actively contributing to discussions when attending, and facilitating valuable introductions.

Two nights ago we had the privilege of bringing together 11 Executives and C-level leaders — some familiar and some new faces — from the top tech companies for a private dinner at the exquisite Colette's Private Dining.

The evening was wonderfully filled with laughter, sharing of personal and professional stories, and incredible new meaningful connections made.

Absolutely grateful and filled with joy — the evening truly underscored why we started D2: to build community where meaningful connections and conversations happen easily.

A cheeky title for a discussion I'm really looking forward to delving into next week in Amsterdam. 

Today Circula launched their comprehensive research report [The Employee Voice: Why You're (Not) a Great Place to Work] on what truly defines a great workplace, based on interviews with over a 1000 employees and 300 employers.

Next week Pim Kiffen will start things off by presenting the findings, followed by a panel discussion on some of the report's most striking statements.
