I'm a strategy-focused, technical marketing person with leadership experience... who hasn't completely forgotten how to work just yet. While the bulk of my career has been spent contributing directly through writing, positioning, multimedia production, product design, and other product-marketing focused work, I've spent the last several years leading teams across a wider variety of disciplines and skills. From flagship events, to demand-generation funnels, to branding and design principles, I've gotten pretty good at figuring out an answer for the challenges of technical marketing (especially at early/mid-stage SaaS companies). No matter what I'm trying to do, my approach is simple and fairly consistent -- constantly re-examine the underlying logic of your strategy, no matter what your numbers look like. Be intellectually honest and embrace adversity as an opportunity to do something better. Don't micromanage; find out what people are good at and passionate about and give them opportunities to succeed or learn from failure. And most importantly, always understand the real-world value, usefulness, or opportunity of whatever you're marketing and don't convince yourself it's something it's not.
