Many heros walk around you. Unseen, unheard, unrecognised. They could be a great father, tireless mother, a benevolent uncle or aunt, working to build a dream for their children. Something that they could not. Be kind to your team member, for they could be that hero you never knew about. #OfficeTruths

Some people will like you. Almost in an instant. Likewise some will dislike you. Nothing changed in you. Their perception did. Don’t lame yourself. You are who you are. Move on. #OfficeTruths

The hardest thing to do,is to do the right thing. The hardest thing to say, is to say the right thing. The hardest thing to be, is be the right person. Right things are hard. Challenging, but rewarding for sure. #OfficeTruths

There are three kinds of friends. The ‘meal for’ friends, who feed on your generosity, and the ‘deal for’ friends, who negotiate for themselves. The one who stay by you are the ‘feel for’ friends. The compassionate and helpful ones. Learn to recognise each one early on. #OfficeTruths

It had been a hard meeting. You felt at your lowest. Unfair. You move to your next meeting. Avoid it if you can. The hangover of the previous meeting is hard  to erase. Best is to speak less and take notes, as it increases focus. And chin up. #OfficeTruths

Building relationships is hard. Takes time, and depends on the other person too. Prejudices and preconceived notions come in the way. You tried your best. Didn’t work. Let go. Be business like. And perhaps things improve. Give it time.  #OfficeTruths

Recognition and rewards keep you going. Most times managers wont tell you. When they do, you feel special. Which you always were. A bit of self praise helps in parched times. #OfficeTruths

The best advice i received as a manager from my mentor was ‘Make sure you invest in your team’s development. Genuinely.Do all you can to mentor and sponsor a couple of team members that they can make managers’. Priceless advice. #OfficeTruths

Early career: they said ‘your well-being, promotion and increment depends  on your manager’. Mid career: they said ‘believe in yourself and your work should speak for itself’. Years passed in holy confusion. I now know that both were right. #OfficeTruths.

Don’t overbook your day. An hour is not an hour, especially over weekends. Time stretches or contracts. Try waiting at the hospital or when eating your favourite food. Time lives is in the moment. Give time to savour time. #OfficeTruths

Trust is key to working together. To build trust one must start with having an open mind and a willing heart. Small acts of reliability builds credibility leading to trust. And be alert, as acts of indiscretion can destroy trust.#OfficeTruths

The one that gets to you is when you can’t read your manager’s mind and keeps you guessing. The one who gives you comfort is a predictable manager who has your best interest at heart. Just sometimes your manager is luck of the draw. #OfficeTruths

Just sometimes everything you do is  so uber correct. Most complex things fall in line. You are cruising. Sometimes it is just the opposite. Anything you touch turns to clay. Nothing seems to work. Chill. This is the sine curve of work. Your winning ways will be back.#IOfficeTruths

Just sometimes you find that of the troubles you feared, every one of them have abated. Things fell in place miraculously. You were in amazement of it all. Remember your meticulous planning? Things you worried about. Vanished. Life is beautiful. #OfficeTruths

Once, friends sent birthday cards agonising over what cards to buy and the words therein that made appropriate meaning. Now sent on WhatsApp. Short, clipped, almost distant. Fret not. For those who sent still thought about you. Calls or meets are a luxury meant for the closest.#LifeTruths

Learning chess involves thinking a couple of steps ahead. Over time it becomes a habit when you play it. Strangely, when it comes to making important decisions in your career, the heat of the moment emotions decide your moves. Sometimes, career limiting. #OfficeTruths

You don’t have to solve all the problems that you have to hand. Take one at a time and give it a shot. Your best. And then another. Glacial progress. Progress all the same. The pieces will fall in place over time. #OfficeTruths
