I have unparalleled 30+ years of direct experience across 35+ nations with digital c impact and innovation with business, government, foundations and nonprofits. I am @democracy on Twitter. In 2013, I was honored by the White House as a Champion of Change for Open Government. In 2006, I became an Ashoka Fellow. Back in 1994, I launched E-Democracy.org – the world’s first election information website at age 25. During that time my “government by day, citizen by night” insights were built as leader of the State of Minnesota’s first e-government initiative. Upon leaving my "day job"​ in government to pursue my passion with building stronger communities and better democracies online, I starting speaking and consulting globally to support non-partisan, volunteer-powered efforts for inclusive online citizen participation through E-Democracy. From Estonia and Libya to Mongolia and most recently Chile and Taiwan, I've spoken on open government, civic technology, digital democracy, and inclusive online community engagement and citizen participation across 35+ countries. After subsidizing the non-profit E-Democracy for a decade fueled by passion and my time, I worked full-time for E-Democracy from 2009-2015 based on grant resources we attracted for our experimental civic work. I now lead E-Democracy on a volunteer basis as Board President. My app "side hustle," 1 Radio News is now nearly ten years old with 200,000 downloads on Android. My newer TV News app is now out and rocketed to 2M downloads and in now on iOS as "TV News Channels." Try it out.
