An authentic multidisciplinary neuroscientist, biomedical engineer, passionate educator, poet, and futurist. Anchored in hardcore electrical and computer engineering, my journey has been marked by challenging ordained taxonomies between and within fields of study and working at the intersection of fundamental neuroscience, clinical medicine, and neurocomputational-neuroengineering and bioelectronics technological innovations. I am motivated by the belief that the future of medical science, especially in areas of refractory neuropathologies, as well as, rare and chronic disorders can unfold through leveraging the vast volumes of data and models across levels of scientific investigation, measurement techniques, and experimental paradigms. Tectonic shifts in brain sciences may only be realized through fostering new generations of scientific “integrators” with expertise in multiple disciplines that allows them to successfully translate across the intellectual and cultural boundaries existing among departmental/institutional silos: a new wave of entrepreneurial renaissance. As a neuroengineer, I am excited about the potential of in-silico clinical trials and the synergy of various neurotechnological approaches to expound brain function in both its glory and demise. Expertise in medical device design, especially minimally invasive neuromodulation technologies for diagnostics and therapeutics, in basic, clinical, and translational neursciences, in crafting detailed scientific educational and regulatory documentation, curricular design and in leading cross-functional teams toward an end product in academic, industry and startup settings. Special expertise in evolving TMS technologies. Multiple post-doctoral fellowships in clinical, electroceutical, and computational neuroscience, especially at Max Planck Institutes and ETH. NSF and NIH grant reviewer, as well as recipient of several grants over the years. Founder of Neuronascence/Neurodiversity Brain Initiative in the Middle East, DeepBrain Neurotech research program at UMD and the NeuroBeam startup. A colorful and broad bandwidth of multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary experiences in academic, governmental, industrial, and nonprofit sectors.
