Ngurah Beni Setiawan has an extensive more than 15 years of experience in geomechanics with Schlumberger Consulting Services and Imperial College London, UK. Beni is currently the Digital Business Development Manager in SLB to support customer accelerating their Digital transformation agenda and technology adoption in upstream business. Beni was also the founding member and chairman of the region of the Indonesian Association of Petroleum Engineer (IATMI) chapter United Kingndom and is a professional who thrives on empowering and connecting people and is actively involved in promoting geomechanics to academia at several reputable universities in Indonesia through a series of technical talks since 2008. Beni is an active member of IATMI and is currently responsible for an initiative to channel and strengthen the role and participation of Indonesian E&P professionals in several reputable universities. Beni's research at Imperial College London is concerned with the stability of a wellbore in anisotropic rocks through which he proposed a semi-analytical method to efficiently and effectively compute the near-wellbore stress. With Schlumberger, Beni once led the geomechanics group and was responsible to develop business and provide technical solutions across Indonesia. Beni has been involved in a wide range of geomechanical projects primarily in Indonesia and also Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Brunei. Beni also serves as a technical reviewer at the International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences of Elsevier particularly on the topics of wellbore stability in petroleum geomechanics. Beni has a strong interest in energy regulation, economics and policy analyses. Beni is alumni of Institute Technology Bandung and holds a PhD from Imperial College London, UK.
