As I go through my career I've discovered a few key things about myself that don't fit in the other sections below, so I've listed some of those things here: • I am out of the closet and I have no interest in going back in it. • They aren't human resources - they're humans. • Leaders are not in charge - we are facilitators, supporters, and guides for our teammates, our equals, and our incredibly talented peers who have knowledge and skills we do not have; each perspective, thought, and idea is worth hearing, acknowledging, and considering (accounting for the paradox of tolerance). • I focus on authentic and transparent leadership that acknowledges without a team there is no need for a leader. My teams are built of skilled and unique individuals that together can achieve greater things than any one of us alone. • I am an energetic and optimistic person, and as a leader I focus on bringing that into my team culture to help keep people excited and motivated about the work that takes up 1/3 of their day. • I value introverts as a part of my teams, so I amplify their voices and ensure that those that speak quietly or are silent in working environments designed for extroverts are still heard. • I am extremely passionate about psychological safety and an inclusive culture that builds on DEI/cognitive diversity to break out of team think and expand into new, brilliant, and undiscovered creative spaces. • I focus on the long-term strategy with regards to team productivity. Work-life balance is essential for a team's retention, quality of delivery, and employee motivation/loyalty - I don't drive for 60 hours of work to be done in 40 hours. • I don't expect anyone to know everything about their job in a world where everything is changing all the time. We live in a world of technology and constant shifts in how and why we work. Being capable of saying you don't know and finding answers is a far superior skill. • I focus on empowerment and autonomy of our professionals - they're on our teams because we saw they brought something unique and valuable to the team and to the organization. • I am a coach and a teacher before a boss or manager. • I am human and I make mistakes - leaders are not infallible. It is important to acknowledge our mistakes, seek to repair what came out of those mistakes, and move on having learned from them - I approach my own growth and the growth of my teams with this mindset always in the forefront. • I have ambitious goals around continuous improvement and education, I ask a lot of questions, and I seek to understand before all else.
