When I was 22 I drove a 1992 VW LT35 with 230.000 km on the odometer from Antwerp to Cape Town. My friend and I eventually made it to Cape Town, our VW did not. Friends and family would ask me: "Why spend six months and all your money driving through Africa while you could continue university/ have cheap cocktails on a beach in Thailand?" I've thought about that last question a lot, especially when our car broke down again or when we had to negotiate our way past yet another corrupt customs official. The best answer I could come up with was "why not?" The truth is I've always enjoyed a challenge and I think the rest of my story reflects that. I started my career working in international development. I worked in academia, and as a consultant for UN projects in South Africa. Working in international development made me realize that meaningful change and innovation go hand in hand. These days I'm proud to work with an amazing team of strategists, designers, and entrepreneurs to imagine and create tomorrow's products, services, and businesses.
