For the last 30 days, we ran tests on LinkedIn's new 'Buyer Group' targeting using this method to reach cold audiences... here is what we saw 👇 .

✅  Although there was no 'Buyer Group' topic available that perfectly fit our solution, they did have a wide range of options to choose from.

✅  Relatively low CPMs and CPCs compared to account or interest based targeting. Although, I think this is mainly a result of large audiences and reaching lower cost users (details below)

❌  Without narrowing the targeting, it creates MASSIVE audience sizes. They are large enough to make the assumption that they are likely reaching people outside your actual 'Buying Group'. We layered in some seniority and job function targeting to reduce the size

❌  Building off the comment above, the demographic report showed a lot of impressions for 'catch all' LinkedIn job titles like 'Member' and 'Specialist'.

In the end, I think you are better off doing your ICP homework and manually creating your own buying group targeting using a combination of Account/Job Title targeting. However, if you do want to test the 'Buying Group' feature on LinkedIn, I would recommend trying to with account in pipeline to reduce audience size an try and support sales team in pipeline conversion rates.
