Business Photographer

Your portrait and headshot are personal branding. They are the most important way of enhancing a person's persona from the first moment they are seen - I strive to create images of people that help them boost engagement with customers, businesses and colleagues. 

I'm love shooting basic headshots to more complex environmental portraiture for use across all digital and print media. I've done it for some of the biggest companies in the world. And if you are a nervous sitter, I always go the extra mile to make sure that my subjects are comfortable in order to draw their personality out in the final image. I work hard to make sure I captured the perfect portrait for the toughest editor - the person being photographed.

-Created rich, engaging photography and video for internal and global external audiences in digital and print formats. Assignments undertaken both in the UK and abroad. 
-Worked across the entire creative process of each assignment from concept creation, planning and logistics through to filming, editing and delivery.
- On Yammer, became 2nd greatest influencer of all time, 4th most followed in the company and a top contributor as a result of running a daily feature called Picture of the Day (*correct as of January 2020)
-Responsible for managing a photographic and video catalogue, fulfilling requests from all areas for a wide range of output.
-Enjoyed showing creative flair and bringing an initial vision to life on all assignments.
-Comfortable working to tight deadlines, under pressure and to a high standard.
-Collaborated with colleagues across the airline including the Senior Leadership Team.
-Developed a strict photography style to match the requirements of the brand.
-At ease working within strict safety and security-first environment. Have held an airside pass, allowing access to restricted areas, for 10 years.
-Highly experienced with Canon cameras, both DSLRs and video cameras. Extensive knowledge and use of GoPros for timelapse assignments and flight deck filming.
-Use the full Adobe Creative suite for all post-production, specifically Premiere Pro, After
Effects, Lightroom and Photoshop. Have the potential to develop further knowledge of design software within the suite.
-Responsible for the implementation and creative design of digital signage around the airline. Established style guidelines and developed new internal EVP style into the screen content.

Contracted full-time to British Airways as a photographer. Main responsibility was producing high-quality images for Up To Speed. Other assignments undertaken globally for other internal stakeholders. My work has been published across the world by external media outlets. Also helped create video content for internal channels.

Looking after f/36 Studio, an affordable space to rent for photography and video shoots. 

So, I finally closed f/36 Studio this week. 

ICYMI it was the hire side of my business - I'd let the space out to other creatives. It was something I'd been doing for a few years, and loved being able to help out other creatives with an affordable studio.

Still, in August this year when I had a break I realised that I was probably spreading myself too thin. Running a studio is a full time job in itself; and I was trying to do that at the same time as running my business (a full time job). And more importantly, as a Dad and Husband (the most important full time job). 

Closing the space was a tough decision - ultimately, it was doing well and it was having a positive effect. 

I'll hold my hands up: I've always generally been afraid of failure (or as Mark Manson put it in an amazing weekly email - "You’re not afraid of failing. You’re afraid of being seen failing"). So this was a huge draw swaying me to keep on with it. 

In the end though, I could see more benefits in closing the space. And you know what? I feel ok about it. Obviously there is sadness there as it's been such a big part of my life, and a great adventure. But immediately I've noticed: I've more energy for my family. I've more focus for Morrish & Co. I'm moving to a new space, just for me, this week (so will be spamming loads of images, fair warning)

There's no doubt some will see this as me "failing". 
But I know it's a different story. 

So if you have something that you are *feeling* like you should let go of - it's probably a sign that you should.
