Foundation Platform

Foundation was a no-code/low-code platform to build and scale any type of internal tool that your SaaS business needs. 

I left the founding team quite early as one of the other co-founders and I fundamentally disagreed - the team proceeded to raise a €300k pre-seed round from Seedcamp, PreSeed Ventures, The Nordic Web & angels but the remaining two co-founders fell out in early 2020 over strategy and shut down the startup.

TechBBQ is the largest startup conference in the Nordics. We took over from the former team in 2016 and grew the event from 650 to nearly 8,000 attendees just 3 years later. 

- Responsible for all marketing & communication efforts, startup & investor relations, managing the marketing team and supporting partnerships and curation.
- Part of the leadership team setting the strategy in collaboration with the steering committee (David Helgason, Esben Gadsbøll, Klaus Nyengaard and more entrepreneurs)
- Successfully fundraised €700,000 from foundations to build out new project portfolio.
- Grew ticket revenue 68% and attendance 61%
- In 2016 as Head of Growth, stepped down to an advisory capacity in 2017 and joined again as CMO in 2018-19.
- In 2016 establishing & leading a team of 5 working with growth & marketing. The team managed to 5x ticket sales and 3x attendance.

ARTLAND App

Artland is a social marketplace app that connects art collectors and galleries. At the time, we lacked product/market fit which made it a very painful experience to try and scale in the consumer market. 

- Responsible for establishing and leading team focused on growing MAU's as the North Star Metric before pre-seed and seed round.
- Grew MAU's 183% in ~6 months and decreased CPI from paid channels by 62%.

Pipetop

Pipetop is the first Autopilot for your Sales Pipeline providing your B2B business with intelligently qualified leads. Many players in this space at the time and we never got it working leading to the subsequent fold in Summer 2016.

- Responsible for content marketing & distribution. Much of my content got shared several hundred times (and are still being shared regularly), went #1 on GrowthHackers and got featured by Hiten Shah.
- Responsible for designing and executing larger outbound sales efforts. 
- Creating an onboarding flow for new users, tracking and optimising user behaviour on the platform.
- Running sales operations and keeping track of the various metrics.

As part of the startup ecosystem for the past seven years, Nicolaj has had several leadership roles in different startups and organisations. 

The past few years as part of Digital Hub Denmark, where he took over as interim CEO in March 2022 and was appointed permanent CEO in September 2023. With a background in marketing, growth and product, Nicolaj brings commercial experience and strong strategic and leadership skills to the table sprinkled with an endless curiosity as to how tech can solve real problems for people and society.
