Are you a struggling to work out what you want when it comes to your career? Or maybe you know what you want but you don’t know where to start? I can help! PSYCHOLOGY | For 19 years, I’ve been a lecturer in cognitive psychology, the brain and behaviour (including higher level functions, like paying attention, thinking, problem solving and being creative). Great subject, colleagues and students but long hours and a heavy workload. Looking ahead, I needed to do something different. I applied for a job-sharing scheme so that I could take stock of my career and figure out my next step. CAREER CHANGE can be a big leap but it can also be a series of smaller steps. Job sharing was my first step. It gave me the opportunity to study for an Accredited Diploma in Executive and Life Coaching and start my own business. My role as a coach includes engaging in active listening and asking the right questions. Combined with various tools and techniques, these skills act as a catalyst to help you make a change, solve a problem, or achieve a goal. Coaching has enhanced my lecturing and vice versa. Working flexibly and engaging my creativity in an entirely new way has made me a better lecturer and my knowledge of psychology allows me to take a truly effective, evidence-driven approach to coaching.
