AT A CAREER CROSSROADS? It's a frustrating place to be. You know you want to make a change but you're not sure... 🤔 Should you stay or go? 🤔 What else can you do? 🤔 Where would you even start?! YOU'RE GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES. --- I understand. For 13 years, I taught psychology at third level. For 6 more years, I did it on a part-time basis. The best parts of my job were: 1. Mentoring students to get from A to B with their 6-month psychology projects. 2. Leading a research support group for colleagues who were studying for higher degrees. 3. Learning about the brain and how people think so they can improve how they live and work. So far so good. The main problem was the workload. Stopping a runaway train would've been easier. Exhausting. Demoralising. Spending Sundays and holidays trying to catch up? I'd had enough. I wanted to discover who I was when I wasn't stressed ALL THE TIME. ➡️ I reduced my hours. ➡️ Explored my options. ➡️ Discovered coaching. Self-help books and career assessments had helped but only took me so far. COACHING WAS WHAT HELPED ME FIGURE OUT WHAT I WANTED AND HOW TO GET THERE. I trained as a coach and then did advanced training for existing coaches in career change so that I could help others choose a new career path. --- Why specialise?
