As General Manager of OpenRegistry, I was responsible for the daily management of the company with a turnover of 1.5M€ (2012) and 6 full-time equivalents on staff.

During my time as General Manager, I developed the long term strategy for the company, with an associated financing plan that will ensure the sustainability of the company for the coming years. This financing plan includes a significant contribution by the Luxembourgish government through its ‘young innovative enterprises’ program. 

Being the main representative of the company, I established and maintained relationships with key stakeholders within the customers’ and suppliers’ organizations. During this period, strategic partnerships were established to enable customers to grow faster and to boost the company’s future revenue growth.

General Manager

Being appointed as Finance Manager only 8 months after the incorporation of the company, my main initial challenge was to put in place the necessary structures to be able to assure revenue and control costs. This allowed to build a sustainable financial basis for the company to evolve and properly define the business plan. I was also responsible for the set-up, and afterwards the dismantlement, of a foreign subsidiary. 

Aside from the financial management of the company, I was in charge of the management of customer projects. This responsibility included tight coordination between the customer, the company’s own technical department and third parties to ensure the projects could be finalized within the foreseen timelines.

As Network Evolution & Strategy Manager, it was my responsibility to initiate and steer the development of new concepts. These new concepts could either come directly from the engineering department as well as from new business ideas that were proposed by the different product marketing teams.

I was as Business Manager end-to-end responsible for 2 of the largest and most complex customer contracts within BT Global Services in Belgium, for providing the data networks for the European Global Positioning Systems EGNOS and Galileo for the European Commission.

In this position, I had to ensure the financial management of these contracts, both revenue and EBITDA driven, to deliver the contractual commitments within the foreseen budget and to develop a long term contract strategy to grow the relationship with the customer.

This responsibility included the management of the customer relationship (at senior interface levels), identify, control and mitigate risks within the project as well as to champion the customer’s interest within BT. The (virtual) contract teams for which I provided the day-to-day management included up to 15 people.

Galileo & EGNOS Business Manager

During my time as Bid Manager, I was responsible for managing bids of a complex and/or high-risk nature (typically outsourcing, solutions and multi vendor designs) from initial qualification to successful acceptance by the customer. My most important projects were around the European Commission’s satellite navigation projects Galileo and EGNOS. 

As Bid Manager, I was the single point of contact during the pre-sales phase of the project, coaching and driving the assigned virtual team to performance and ensure that the proposed solution meets customer requirements and BT’s financial and operational hurdles.

Right after earning my Master’s degree, I was hired by Belgacom as Account Telecom Consultant. My role was to deliver technical-commercial support to the sales organization and directly towards the top 100 external customers, which were in my case mainly within the finance and  government sector. As part of this role, I had to ensure bid management for complex projects and participate in an active way in the definition of the customer long-term strategy.
