In this role within the Franchise Marketing Team, I am responsible for leading the EMEA marketing activities for the VMware Security Business Unit (formerly known as Carbon Black). This role entailed devising a marketing strategy for the security solutions that VMware offers, and working with a virtual team of in-region country marketing managers to execute against that strategy and measure the effectiveness. I collated content, messaging, campaigns, resources and budget from centralised teams based in Australia and the US, and then rolled these out across the EMEA region to support net new customer acquisition and cross-sell/up-sell opportunity generation.

EMEA Marketing Lead, Franchise Marketing Team, Security Business Unit (SBU)

In 2018 I was promoted to EMEA and APJ Marketing Team Lead. Carbon Black’s growth within the EMEA region meant that we needed to expand the team in order to support additional countries and markets, and I hired a team of 3 direct reports to facilitate this. Carbon Black’s presence was also fast-growing in APJ so I was given responsibility for the marketing activities across the Asia Pacific region, working closely with counterparts in the UK and agencies on the ground to execute against our strategy and plans for high priority countries including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Japan. 

Carbon Black was acquired by VMware in October of 2019 and became the VMware Security Business Unit (SBU).

EMEA & APJ Marketing Team Lead

Reporting into the VP of Marketing for EMEA & APJ, I joined Carbon Black as the only other marketing team member for the EMEA region not long after Carbon Black had launched in the region. In my role as Marketing Manager, I was responsible for building and executing regional plans for both established and emerging territories, establishing and managing budgets and measuring results. With fierce growth targets, the priority was to generate net new demand and to achieve the pipeline goals for each territory. As it was a start-up environment, I took on everything from strategy and funding requests right down to the day-to-day execution. I managed all aspects of the marketing mix, including PR and analyst relations, corporate and field marketing, channel and digital marketing.

In this role, I was responsible for creating and executing integrated demand generation programs to build a pipeline of sales-ready leads and qualified opportunities. Reporting to the EMEA Marketing Director, I worked closely with counterparts in sales, digital demand gen, content and product marketing teams to define and execute a variety of campaigns.

- Raised over £250 in sponsorship money, exceeding the target by £100.
