ORION Ontario's Research and Education Network

ORION is a not-for-profit organization supporting Ontario’s progress through digital infrastructure and services.
I currently lead all of ORION's strategic branding, communications and marketing initiatives. Key to this has been scaling the organization’s communication and branding to establish new communication strategies and messaging while building my team’s capacity and impact.

Director of Marketing and Communications

In this multi-faceted and dynamic role, I balanced product marketing and training program management to support ORION stakeholders to achieve their network, cybersecurity and cloud adoption goals. To achieve this, I formalized internal processes for launching new products and services, including product launch requirements, go-to-market planning and marketing collateral templates.

Senior Program Manager, Training and Product Marketing

In this role, I established a province-wide training and professional development program to support information technology and information security practitioners increase cybersecurity skills and strengthen the security posture of the sector.

Accomplishments:

■ Established a one-year training calendar, together with proposed training pathways for ORION stakeholders, based on research and consultation, to strengthen key areas of concern and to identify new areas of critical knowledge.

■ Actively engaged with ORION’s external stakeholders to understand and respond effectively to their unique training and professional development requirements.
 
■ Led the development, launch, and promotion of ORION’s Community Training program, across internal business units to ensure alignment with organizational strategies and business goals.

Future Walks are mobile community conversations, developed in partnership with Sidewalk Toronto, exploring the history of Toronto’s waterfront to inspire discourse and vision for building inclusive and accessible new neighbourhoods in Quayside and the Port Lands.

SKETCH supports youth on the margins to heal, produce and lead through the arts. 

As the Resource Development and Marketing Director, I established strategic and operational planning for all fundraising, marketing, and communications.

Achievements:
■ Authored the organization’s first Resource Development and Marketing plan. 
■ Established and promoted a new monthly donor program to increase Individual Giving.
■ Increased corporate partnerships by developing and marketing innovative corporate giving programs.
■ In November 2018, Money Sense named SKETCH among Canada's Top 100 Charities.

Resource Development and Marketing Director

As the Resource Development Associate, I prepared proposals and reports for government, foundations and corporate funders, and led the Individual and Corporate Giving programs. 

Achievements: 
■ Successfully acquired core funding from United Way and Canada Council for the Arts.
■ Operationalized Corporate Team Building programs resulting in the acquisition of new corporate partners.
■ Aligned fundraising activities with marketing and communications.
■ Promoted to Resource Development and Marketing Director.

Luminato Festival

Luminato Festival is Toronto’s global multi-arts festival. 

As the Assistant to the Artistic Director, I worked closely with the Artistic Director and programming team directing the administrative flow of the Artistic Director’s office and all related business. Invited by Artistic Director to develop community-engaged programming for 2016 festival.

Achievements: 
■ Led participatory engagement projects reflecting the key festival themes to connect diverse communities with the festival program.
■ Established and maintained systems to track projects, artists and companies ensuring organizational clarity and knowledge of all active and prospective projects and commissions.
■ Maintained strong relationships with major donors, key stakeholders and partnering organizations.

Assistant to the Artistic Director

City of Melbourne

SIGNAL is a creative studio for young people run through the City of Melbourne. 

In this dynamic role, I established strategic approaches to building the capacity, scope and awareness of the Signal Program. 

 
Achievements: 
■ Spearheaded a digital engagement strategy to successfully cultivate, acquire and retain new audiences and participants.
■Increased social media engagement from 138 followers to 5785 followers.
■Increased live audience and participation over 300% across three years.
■Invited to collaborate on working groups to develop the City of Melbourne Arts Strategy and business plan.


Throughout this time, I was invited to work with the Arts and Culture Manager to support the consultation and development of the City of Melbourne Arts Strategy and business plan.

Front of House Manager (Community Engagement)

Student Youth Network

SYN is a non-profit community media organization providing education, training and opportunities for young people to create radio, television and digital media. 

As the Education and Training Manager, I raised a significant portion of the organization's operating income through the development, execution and promotion of education and training programs. 

Achievements: 
■ Successfully grew fundraising through partnership development, digital campaigns, grant writing and conference presentations. 
■ Cultivated relationships with partners and critical stakeholders including arts organizations, community broadcasters, government and education peak bodies. 
■ Established inclusive programming for young people navigating social, physical and intellectual barriers.

Education & Training Manager

City of Port Phillip

Port Phillip Library Service is one of Melbourne's largest and most active inner city library services. Over my seven years with PPLS I oversaw the acquisition and collection development for the audiovisual, graphic novel  and zine collections. I also established '(sub)cultured: the library sessions' a unique arts program providing workshops and events for young people on emerging urban art forms delivered by local emerging artists.
