I am the founder and director of IP Research Ltd and Paradigm Shift (RTD) Ltd, two technology companies that help clients innovate and go beyond the established paradigm. I started my career while I was still at university, starting a company to develop and manufacture systems for mixing of gases. It nearly got me kicked out of school when I chose to go to the USA to exhibit my products instead of attending a class at Cambridge. After selling my first business, I worked in venture capital and in technology consulting until deciding to go back to school for a PhD studying how to enhance creativity in new product development. Fundamentally it is about understanding human thinking. If you are going to help product development teams improve their creativity, you first need to understand what motivates people to come up with different ideas, how people plan their thinking, and how to cultivate and exploit cognitive resources, including thinking skills and knowledge. Following that work, I set up IP Research Ltd and Paradigm Shift (RTD) Ltd to help clients innovate. We combine analytical ability with the ability to generate concepts beyond the boundaries of the current paradigm. I like to have an active engagement in most technical challenges, always with an entrepreneurial spirit. Both me and my team are driven by the satisfaction of building a vision beyond the familiar, seeing what others don’t, and delivering exceptional solutions.
