At 14, I laid the foundation for a my freelance business that eventually made €7k per month.
Here's how an internship became my primary lead source:

At 14, I was eager to dive into side projects.

The trend at the time was creating niche websites to attract organic traffic.

This traffic could be monetized via AdSense and affiliate marketing.

I decided to give it a go:

I built a blog about learning how to swim.

It was a complete flop…

It turned out that not many people wanted to learn swimming from a blog (surprise…).

So, I continued to create new sites.

The first successful one was a guide on managing divorce from a child's perspective, drawing on my own experiences with my parents' divorce.

This site started attracting over 400 unique visitors a month.

While the numbers were alright, they weren't groundbreaking.

However, I leveraged this site to secure a summer internship at Greven Medien GmbH & Co. KG.

It was a fantastic experience, and soon after, they reached out with a job offer, which I accepted.

Later, a former team member contacted me after noticing I was running Facebook ads for personal projects.

They needed help, and again, I agreed.

This opportunity led to a junior position and a freelance contract at 14 years old.
Before long, referrals began to pour in.

At its height, my freelance business was generating €7k a month — all during high school.

The takeaway?

Show your skills, and you'll shine.

Copywriting is more than words.

It's capturing emotions.

Turning ideas into reality. 

Above all, it's channeling market power towards your product.

Don't underestimate great copy.

This VSL funnel added €100k ARR in two months. We crafted a framework that’s so simple, it’s hard to believe.

The main idea is the following:

Take a customer that doesn’t know he has a problem, make him aware of it, and present your solution as the perfect fit.

Here’s the framework:

1/ Start with an epic hook.

Getting your viewers to watch a 20 minute video requires a big commitment, so the hook is the most important part.

Make them feel as if their life depends on watching this video.

Sounds dramatic, but it’s crucial.


2/ Show and explain the root causes.

Showcase overarching developments that lead to the core problems you’re about to mention.

What are shifts in the market?

How’s the industry changing?

Example:

Through the demographic changes, talents are choosing their employer and not the other way around.


3/ Show them that you understand their core problem.

This is the result of the root causes.

The problem they’re facing is a direct consequence of the root cause.

Example:

Business are not getting enough applicants for their open positions.


4/ Showcase the emotional problem.

Rub it in.

To what frustrations are these core problems leading?

Example:

You’re working 70h weeks and you can’t deliver the quality your customers deserve.

Make it feel significant – because it is significant.


5/ Transition into the author story.

Build more trust and credibility.

Convince the viewer that you are the right person to talk about this problem.

Show them why you can relate.

Explain the story of how you discovered your solution:

Describe the moments of frustration when you tried all the things, but none worked.

Then you go on to describe what happened once you finally found your solution and it WORKED.

Then it’s time to add social proof. Lots of it.


6/ Reveal the core truth.

Transition from the story to the mechanism.

What is the solution? Why does it work?

Introduce your product for the first time.

Add case studies.

Explain in detail how your method works - educate.

Heuristic for this part:

Provide them with all the knowledge they’d need to do it themselves.


7/ Reveal your product.

Summarize all product details so it’s easy to understand.

Then, reveal your pricing. Make it seem irresistible.

And last but not least, use the last minutes for some objection handling, add a CTA, and boom:

That’s all you need to add 6 figures to your business in two months.

Fun fact: the more ego involved in your culture, the worse your company performance.

You’ve probably seen it before.

Team members letting their personal interest get in the way of what’s best for the company.

For example:

- choosing projects you’re passionate about over what’s necessary
- improving one metric, knowing it will negatively influence another
- planning based on what’s most fun, but not most urgent
- And I think there’s a simple solution.

Living by the heuristic:

Do what’s best for the company.

Why?

Because what’s best for the company usually is best the team, for the customers, and thus, best for everyone individually.

To quote our boy Charlie:

"The most important rule in management is to get the incentives right.”
