As a fellow Creative in Corporate I've found a better way... Juggling to keep everything together, always on the go, spread too thin & feeling stressed. At times you over-react and get frustrated easily. Sleep isn’t great and you’re having some health concerns. With constant corporate changes you’re uncertain of what’s next for you and you’re feeling stuck, not using your creativity and having self-doubts. I get it, I was there too. Having climbed the corporate ladder at a huge brand as a VP Creative Director; for many years I felt driven and successful but over time I found myself uninspired, not clear of the future and suffering chronic migraines. I felt this way because I was a Creative Leader in a Corporate environment. In the Corporate world it is essential to have structure and efficiency, be performance & results driven. Creative environments value exploration, collaboration and inspiration. Because Corporate culture tends to value organization over creativity, we start doing things like people-pleasing, looking for external validation, saying yes to taking on more, managing all the tough feedback and then suppressing our emotions. When we focus too much on organization and performance we begin to lose the creative, exploratory aspects of ourselves. For me I needed to believe that my creative gifts and talents were valuable despite how I felt in the corporate environment. I wanted a life where my creativity and my organizational aspects were balanced. When this came together I created my next amazing chapter with renewed energy, ambition, inspiration, confidence and improved health and wellbeing.
