I used to think some things about myself were harmless. Maybe even a blessing. But over time, I realized they were holding me back. Initially I was confident that I will survive alone in business

1. My location

 I live in a far-off town. There’s little exposure to offline opportunities. No big events. No network of entrepreneurs nearby. For a long time, I thought it didn’t matter. But it does. Being isolated slows you down. The connections, the energy, the learning you miss it. I’m fixing this by going online smarter. Networking digitally. Attending webinars. Reaching out to people I admire. The goal isn’t to move towns yet it’s to move mentally.

2. I sucked at making friends

 Honestly, I’ve never been good at it. I overthink. I misread signals. I keep people at a distance. And that has cost me chances for partnerships, collaborations, even small opportunities. My plan is simple: I’ll push myself to connect more. Even small conversations matter. I don’t need 100 friends. Just the right ones who can challenge me and push me forward.

3. My profit communication issues

 I struggle to express myself. To pitch ideas. To be understood. It frustrates me every day. I used to avoid it, thinking I could hide behind my work. But hiding doesn’t work in business. I’m practicing daily writing more, speaking more, being honest when I don’t know the right words. Improvement is slow, but it’s happening.

These three things were my weaknesses. But identifying them is the first step to changing them. No excuses. No pretending. Just action.

And that’s the point. Until I face my own limits and change them, growth is just a vision.

This is what a client told me last month, and for some reason I just froze.

I didn’t know how to respond. I didn’t know how to move forward. I blacked out. I stopped all work for the next three weeks.

It’s weird how one sentence can make everything feel uncertain. One short sentence and suddenly the clarity you had disappears. Your confidence feels like it’s gone. I realized later that it wasn’t about the client rejecting me. It was about me reacting to the fear of uncertainty. I let that one sentence control my actions.

For three weeks, 

I didn’t post. 
I didn’t reach out to clients. 
I didn’t create. 
I just waited.

After spending those 3 weeks I came to this understanding that : 

uncertainty will always happen. Some clients will say no. Some opportunities won’t materialize. And sometimes, one small moment can freeze you in place.

But the choice isn’t to never face uncertainty. The choice is to move anyway. To take action even when my mind wants to pause. To keep creating even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

I will still mess up. I will still freeze sometimes. But now the response time will be faster.

Because the truth here is waiting doesn’t make things easier.

Not every investment you make has to bring you monetary ROI.

There. I said it without an apology. 

And if you're a coach or consultant just building your name, you need to hear this more than anyone.

Stop looking for immediate revenue when you hire someone to help with your socials.

Let me Explain : 

I see this all the time.

Someone hires a content person. Two months in, they're asking "where are my clients?

That's not how this works.

Social media isn't a sales funnel when you're starting out. It's a credibility builder.

Think about it this way.

When you were building your coaching practice, did your first certification immediately bring you clients? No. It built your foundation.

Same with your online presence.

Some investments set you up FOR revenue. They don't create it directly.

Here's what actually happens when you invest in social content early:

Your name shows up when people search you. Prospects see you're active and current. Referrals can point people to your content. You have proof you understand your market.

None of that shows up as "ROI" in month one.

But six months later? That foundation is why someone picks you over the other coach they found.

The coaches who get this build differently.

They don't panic when the first 90 days don't bring deals. They understand they're playing a longer game.

They're building trust equity.

And trust equity always converts. Just not on your impatient timeline.

So if you're hiring help for content right now, here's my advice:

Budget for 3-5 months of foundation building.

Set expectations correctly. You're not buying leads. You're buying presence.

The ROI comes later. And it comes bigger because you didn't quit early.
Most coaches bail at month three. They say "social doesn't work for me."

Wrong.
You didn't give it time to work.

Look, I get it. Cash flow is real. You need clients now.

But that doesn't mean every dollar you spend needs to return revenue this quarter.

Some dollars buy you speed. Some buy you scale. Some buy you credibility.
You need all three.

When you're building your name, credibility is the investment that pays the longest.
But only if you let it mature.

So stop asking your content person to be your sales team.

Stop expecting your social presence to close deals in week six.

And stop thinking an investment only counts if it shows up in your bank account immediately.

The best investments in your business are the ones that compound.

Social content compounds.

But compounding takes time.
Give it that time.

Your future self will thank you.
And your bank account will too.
Just not today.

If I tell you to find the tallest building in a city you've never visited, you'll struggle. 
You will ask, Is it 10 floors? 50 floors? 100 floors? 

But if I show you one tall building and say find more like this, you know exactly what to look for.

I have learned this the hard way that success in business works the same way.

Until you experience one good day, one good week, one good month where things work, you have no idea what you're aiming for.

You hear other people talk about their wins. You see their posts. You read their stories.
But that's not your success. That's theirs.

Exactly same thing has happened with me and also with lot of other people.

I didn't had my version of success. The ideas of what would my success looks like always
came from someone else in the internet but it does not match with my needs, ideas, situations.

It has always been a glamorized success! 

Hence, you should know that your business needs your version of success. 
And you won't recognize it until you've lived it once.

What that one day looks like
It doesn't have to be huge.

Maybe it's the day a stranger pays you $500 for your service.

Maybe it's the day your content gets 50 comments from your ideal clients.

Maybe it's the day someone messages you saying I've been following you for months and I'm ready to work with you.

That one day shows you what's possible. It gives you a pattern to repeat.
More importantly, it tells you what kind of success you actually want.

The exploration trap

Most business owners fall into what I call the exploration trap.

They keep trying new things because they think the next thing will be "it.

New offer. New audience. New platform. New strategy.

They're exploring because they're searching for something. But they don't know what they're searching for.

And this is where it gets dangerous.

You can explore for 10 years and never find anything. Because you're not really exploring. You're guessing without that reference point, so every new direction feels equally valid and equally wrong.

So you keep moving. Keep pivoting. Keep "testing but you're not building. You're circling.

This is about never knowing what success looks like.

One day of real success changes everything.

Not because it makes you rich. But because it shows you the path.

You see what worked. You see what your ideal client responded to. You see what kind of business you can actually build. Now you have direction.
