The future looks suspiciously like the past.
Here’s a short story, on perspective....

Back in 1200s
In old times, travellers were sages.
They crossed kingdoms and oceans,
carrying answers to questions villagers could barely imagine.

Villagers lined up with their doubts:
→ What should I do with my life?
→ What should I name my son?
→ Should I work? Should I travel?

The sage was wisdom on legs.
People depended on his answers to guide their lives.

Fast forward to 2010.
The “new age” mocked this.
How dumb were those villagers?
Why couldn’t they decide for themselves?
Why depend on one man for judgment?

Fast forward to 2025.
The same “new age” types into a device:
→ My girlfriend sent me this text, write a reply.
→ I want to get fit, what should I eat?
→ I need career advice.
→ Who am I?

And feels proud of outsourcing instinct to AI.

I’m not saying this is bad.
But here’s the perspective:
Wisdom has never been about access to answers.
It’s about carrying the experience to ask better questions.

You don’t become “updated” because AI helps you respond.
You’re just catching up to the same pattern humans have always lived.

Takeaway:
AI is powerful, but perspective is deeper —
a measure of lived experience, not machine output.
Use AI to accelerate, not to outsource judgment.

It’s that we forgot how to be human on it.

But social as human connection, digitized.

Let’s do a thought experiment that might strip you bare.

Yesterday I was sitting with a retired man.
58 years old.
He leaned back and said:
“Now what should I do? Maybe I’ll write a book.
Maybe start a school.
Maybe travel for a year…”

I could see the spark.
But not the energy.
Because life doesn’t reboot like a device.
It depletes. Quietly. Relentlessly.

And it made me think—what if we don’t wait until 58?

Here’s a thought experiment:

Let’s assume from Monday this is what happens,

→ If you have a job, imagine you can never go to any job again.
→ If you run a startup, imagine you can never touch the same industry again.
→ Your bank account resets.
→ Your title vanishes.

Now, while the impossible is done and reality is stripped away—
ask yourself: What will you be doing from Monday?

Hardest part is not quitting, it’what you do… coz what’s driving you directly you seize to exist and you are on your own, square one.

Will you call yourself you without the layers you spent years to build identity the economy gave you?
Or will something deeper unravel—
the human underneath the asset?

Maybe your instinct will rebuild.
Maybe survival will recreate you from the ground up.
Or maybe,
your answers will look like a slow morning,
a book to read,
an open sky,
an evening walk.

And that, I believe, is what’s needed.
Not more plans, not more identity missmatch.
But a personal moment where you begin writing your own story.
Your drive. Your legacy.
That’s the day the real you begins to unravel.

Takeaway:
Are we waiting for retirement to ask “Now what?”
Does it makes sense to ask it today.
Because identity isn’t the role you play to make the ends meet
It’s the story that survives when those roles are stripped away.
