I am a research engineer aiming to have a holistic view of the ecosystem in which communication networks are deployed. My background is wireless networks, erasure/error correcting codes, radio-frequency, antennas, propagation, signal processing, software and protocol stack both from a theoretical and practical point of view. Current areas of my interest are applications of wireless/wired communications, information and coding theory, space-air-ground integrated networks, signal processing, security and machine learning. My research focuses on understanding how fundamental concepts and designs affect practical systems in new and future communication solutions in real networks. I have experience in the design, analysis and testing of communications networks from the industrial sector. This has allowed me to observe from an operational how constrained real data networks run, both from the physical layer, protocol stack and application levels in Unix-like systems. This has been in high and low level programming applications to provide service to customers. I have worked and managed the communications engineering aspects of various projects in satellite and drone networks, as separate parts of what is known as space-air-ground integrated networks. These projects have put forward: an academic CubeSat mission launched from NASA, management protocols of LEO satellite constellations for space and telecommunications missions, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with cellular access and local wireless mesh for infrastructure inspection at the Danish and EU levels. I have participated in other projects related to network security, machine learning for space applications, and error-correcting codes for high throughput coding in optical communications aiming for low-complexity designs. More recently, I have gained experience in bringing 3GPP 5G Narrow-band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) into applications and services through Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) in Low Earth Orbit. This has been made by working in areas such as analysis and design of energy consumption of NB-IoT, uplink Doppler compensation algorithms, Turbo codes for the uplink channel, SIB31 management, and protocol suite design and testing under the PyTest framework.
